Your Player Cards

I know this is going to sound stupid and very selfish but if a person uploads a player that isn't originally there's should the quote the user who originally created it

It is amazing what we can do with this editor....if you look at some of the likenesses people are coming up with and all that with the same set of tools and parameters available to them......

Totally agree... some folks have A LOT more patience than I am for getting those likenesses spot on! I don't think I've quite got a handle on it yet, but it's cool to see so many great cricketers coming to life, so to speak.

Keep those player-cards coming!

That's already a built-in feature in the creation-system. The original file-maker is always credited... if you're talking about INSIDE of these forums, then there's really no way to control that as it's an external creation system outside of PlanetCricket. That being said, there is a FAIRLY robust plagiarism rule here that, should it be needed... can be extended to these player cards. I hope people would be SMART ENOUGH not to post player-cards of players they did not create themselves! That kinda defeats the purpose of this whole exercise and you're fooling no-one by doing it.

Well if someone is trying to pass off their work as someone elses......I mean how sad can you be? But I agree with you that credit should be given where credit is due....I can take a popular card add a bit of zinc and have my name written on it......

...Yeah, exactly what Dutch said. We shoudn't need to post a "RULE" to govern this kind of common sense. Be smart. After all, the name of the thread is "Your Player Cards" not... "Someone elses you put sunglasses on"

thanks guys i know is petty but this is all new to us cricket gamers and i think the idea that you can make minor tweaks and post is fine as long as there is credit given to the creating party. It hasnt happened yet(i think) but incase it did wanted to clear it up

I imagine as well that with time that we all get to know the names of the good editors and look for their stuff online and download it in our game....quality will float to the top as it were. I dont believe there is a mod for this section of the forums but perhaps the time is coming that it will be needed......

The problem is the system isn't quite perfect. I wanted to edit another Prior as I thought it was better than mine but when I downloaded it, edited it and reuploaded it credited me as the original creator as it thought I was updating my version.

...Yeah, the in-built rating system makes it pretty easy to find the quality stuff. It works well. The knock-off ones don't generally get rated terribly well, early on the community is kinda weeding that stuff out, so that's a good sign, although that "Prior" bug mentioned above might be a slight spanner in the works to be fixed. I've made a few small changes to the Brendon McCullum version that's currently rated on the top, but I won't upload my variation as I've only changed a few small things visually, along with playing around with the kit colour options.

It will be great to have a refined search option to search be country and also Editor to make search simpler

I've found another issue with this system...
There was a Barrack Obama on the server which already had half a dozen 'thumbs', but it didn't look like him.
So I downloaded it and tweaked every single feature to get it closer to his photo, and re-uploaded it.
However, the original author then downloaded mine, changed the hair colour, and then re-uploaded it back over his one.

This makes mine look like a crappy knock-off... it looks I've only changed his hair and tried to steal it... when actually I spent ages on that character, but get zero credit.
Left is original (original/submitted by him),
middle is mine (original=him, submitted=me),
right is his now after he copied my edit over the top of his one (original/submitted by him, no mention of me).

It's not that much of a big deal as I don't really care if I'm internet-famous for making characters, but it does seem like a bit of a flaw in the credits system.
