Great match, but I don't think Sachin has to prove himself to McGrath or anyone for that matter, he is the king. Nice tribute to Gilly aswell

Fantastic win for India and congrats to them on winning the series 3-1 :hpraise.
Harbhajan Singh made full use of the turning track to pick up 6 wickets :clap.

Awesome awesome stuff mate. fantastic work with this story. Can't wait for the CB series :)

I expected Jumbo to be more of dominant role but it seem to be other spin twin's turn to trouble the opponents. Fantastic win for India in the similar way which this story is going. :) Keep it up.

Good to see India win here. Sachin will be under pressure to perform in ODI series now after comments by McGrath. But I dont think Sachin uses that language.

But I dont think Sachin uses that language.

Well, I noticed it.. but you know, from what I have observed from the writer is, he has been working very hard to understand Sachin. It will take some time though! :)

Also on a extra note, a short communication between Sachin and Ian Chappel which happened during the real life test series recently,

Ian : You have been such a class player of pull shots.. but why you hesitate to use them against those bouncers and instead you tried to avoid them?

Sachin :
Well, It's my shot and I know when to play them.

Ian : ( Gone in silence and just gave a laugh! ) :p

freddiw, the reason why I stated the above real time incident is, it might help you in future too. :) I will suggest the usage of simple english words than some stylish words for Sachin.. and words like, " To be honest " and attitude with self confidence are some of his characteristics.

Good luck with the future updates.

I was actually not planning to use the language but it is hard to show the emotion on screen and i felt it was right

I will be looking into him more and more for the ODI series

any advice or ideas about what Sachin thinks are very welcome

thanks Suren and Scion for that reps coming

Superb update mate. Great to see India win. I agree with you using language. I also know how hard it is to express the players feelings and sometimes there is nothing better than to use a good old expletive. However that is very sound advice by Suren, you should take it on board as he is the legend around here :)

Keep up the excellent work mate :thumbs

I reckon you should just go onto the commonwealth bank series, If people want to go through each test they can got look them all up:onpc

Good Job though

Today I just relaxed and watched the Prime Ministers X1 vs. Sri Lanka One day game which was very entertaining. In the end Sri Lanka got smashed after being bowled out for 137 with Sangakarra getting 1 and Jayersuriya getting only 4. Dougie Bollinger bowled very very well taking an awesome 3 wicket hall for only 26. Johnson and Tait also helped with 2 a piece. So with 139 to win the opposition came out and saw David Hussey score a quick fire 50 to lead the side to victory and put the Sri Lankans on the back foot only 7 days before the Commonwealth Bank series.

Sri Lanka get a warm welcome to Australia with a 7 wicket defeat

Then we flew this evening to Sydney, the venue of our first match against Australia. We will just be training over the next few days and then before the match I will write in the Sri Lankan and Australian squads. I am hoping to make some good runs in the series and looking forward to it very much. I also may be getting a few overs according to the skipper Dhoni!

Lets hope the ODI series is a good one

Hello and welcome to the preview of the tri-series between Sri Lanka, India and hoem side Australia. The series will be starting this weekend and will continue into March and will conclude with three finals which the top two teams will contest. Before that each team plays each other four times, meaning eight matches apiece in the group stage. With world number one side Australia looking to remain as cricket?s dominant force; it is up to the subcontinent sides to provide some hope to others that Australia?s golden years may be coming to an end soon.

We will now go through the main parts of each side, we will be picking three of the best for each part and then setting you a fantasy team to enter for the series coming up. Here we go starting with the spinners.

untitled1ak4.jpg

Anil Kumble
One of three Indian spinners who enjoyed a spectacular test series. Kumble will be hoping to enjoy this series as it is his final ODI series and although he doesn?t enjoy the shorter game as much as the longer version he has 364 wickets and will defiantly be looking to finish his career with a double victory in Australia.

Muttiah Muralitharan
The only spinner in the Sri Lankan side and is always expected to produce the magic. Murali is the known to some as a chucker but to others as a magician. The 35 year old off spinner has a career average of 23 in One Day Internationals and with 446 wickets under his belt it really shows the amazing ability of this bowler. Murali?s career economy of under 4 shows how important he is to Sri Lankans and if he fails then the Sri Lankans will really be struggling.

Harbhajan Singh
Murali and Singh are the best two off spinners in the world and both look to beat batsmen with turn and flight. Singh otherwise known as the ?turbanator? is a dangerous bowler who has an incredible personality on the pitch and will be looking to take some big wickets in this massive Tri-Nations series against the best sides in the world.

untitled2ha9.jpg

Brett Lee
Since Glen McGrath has retired from all forms of cricket Brett Lee has been given the job to spearhead the Australian pace attack. At first many said Lee would not be able to take the job and would crumble under the pressure of having to be number one. Well the man renowned for his sheer pace proved himself throughout the Test Series against India being Australia?s one and only dangerous bowler and consistently putting serious pressure on the batsmen and troubling them at all times. Lee although can get himself to speeds of over 90MPH is still an accurate bowler and if he is bowling well can destroy a batting side in a matter of overs.

Lasith Malinga
4 wickets in a row is a fine achievement for any bowler and the frizzy haired bowler Slinga Malinga is renowned for his aggression, pace and character. The bowler like Lee has serious pace and due to his un-orthodox action can be incredibly hard to play. The 24 year old has a huge future ahead of him and in this Tri-Series will be wanting to prove himself as one of the best quicks in the world.

Shanthakumaran Sreesanth
Sreesanth was hardly anything more than an answer to a trivia question - who is the only Kerala bowler to have taken a Ranji Trophy hat-trick ? His rise, though, was rapid. He is not the most reliable fast bowler but is a hero for his aggression and ability to destroy a batting attack. With only 26 one day international wickets the 24 year old has only just started his career and will want to come out now and prove that he is the best in the world with the new ball. Whether his character will match his performance, only time can tell.

Sanath Jayersuriya
The 38 year old batsmen has an unbelievable career and can destroy the bowlers with ease. 11718 ODI runs at 32 is an unbealivable batsmen who retired in 2006 only to return against England within a year. Sanath is a very wristy batsmen who can hit all round the wicket but more so square on the leg-side than any other area of the ground. If the Sri Lankans are to get big runs in this series Sanath will be under pressure to score quick, quality runs at the beginning of the innings.

Matthew Hayden
A man whose career was almost finished at the end of 2006 is now renowned as one of the biggest hitters in world cricket and with Adam Gilchrist the two can destroy any bowling attack within the first 10 overs. If Australia stick to past plans in the one day form of the game then we may see some splendid cricket from this wonderful batsmen who is ultimately aggressive.

Virendar Sehwag
6000 runs at 57 with a strike rate of 72 says something about this magnificent opening batsmen. A ODI strike rate of 96 says another and Virendar Sehwag is simplified in those stats there. This man can come out and immediately destroy a bowling attack, he can dispatch sixes all over the park and on top of this big hitting ability he can bat for a long time with 11 ODI hundreds and 29 fifties. Sehwag could be a key player for this Indian side and if he is gunning they could be scoring 300 on a regular basis.

untitled4qk8.jpg

Warnakulasuriya Patabendige Ushantha Joseph Chaminda Vaas
Chaminda Vaas is easily the most penetrative and successful new-ball bowler Sri Lanka have had, and he has served his country well. He swings and seams the ball with skill, his trademark delivery being the late indipper. However, he also bowls a carefully disguised offcutter, and has recently added reverse-swing to his armoury, a skill that has made him a consistent wicket-taker even on bland subcontinental pitches. If the bowler bowls as he can he will be hard to score runs off and with Murali that?s 20 tight overs out of 50.

Zaheer Khan
Like Vaas Khan is a tactical bowler and the perfect foil for Sreesanth. He has huge variations with Slower balls, Yorkers, cutters and the ability to swing the ball both ways. Khan has 155 ODI wickets at under 30 and on pitches that have a bit in them he could prove to be one of the most dangerous bowlers in this series.

Nathan Bracken
The third of the left arm quicks and will be sharing the new ball with Lee on their mission to win this series. His versatility and control led to 46 ODI wickets for 2006, the second most in the world, and at times during the 2006 Champions Trophy he opened the attack, dropping Glenn McGrath to first change. In 17 matches between the South Africa tour and the end of the CB Series he picked up at least a wicket in each game and he missed only one match at the World Cup, capturing 16 victims in his second campaign. An essential member of the one-day squad, Bracken, whose mother-in-law occasional predicts his performances, faces a regular tussle with Mitchell Johnson for the position as the country's No. 1 left-armer.

untitled1wf4.jpg

Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar has been the most wholesome batsman of his time, and arguably the biggest cricket icon as well. His batting is based on the purest principles: perfect balance, economy of movement, precision in stroke-making, and that intangible quality given only to geniuses, anticipation. If he doesn't have a signature stroke - the upright, back-foot punch comes close - it is because he is equally proficient in each of the full range of orthodox shots (and plenty of improvised ones as well) and can pull them out at will.

Ricky Ponting
The captain of the Australian side and possibly the best One day batsmen in the world at the moment. At times Ponting has been compared to Don Bradman and with a career ODI average of 42 and 10,000 runs Ponting is the perfect number 3 and if he plays to his ability could score an amazing amount of runs in this prestigious ODI series.

Mahela Jayerwardne
A fine technician with an excellent temperament, Jayawardene's exciting arrival in 1997 heralded the start of a new era for Sri Lanka's middle order. Jayerwardne is a classy player and with his leadership role is the most vital player in the Sri Lankan side and will really be looking to lead his nation to victory in this month long tri-nations series.

untitled2om4.jpg

Adam Glichrist
Adam Gilchrist has been the symbolic heart of Australia's steamrolling agenda and the most exhilarating cricketer of the modern age. He is simultaneously a cheerful throwback to more innocent times, a flap-eared country boy who has walked when given not out in a World Cup semi-final, and swatted his second ball for six while sitting on a Test pair. "Just hit the ball," is how he once described his philosophy on batting, and he seldom strays from it. Gilchrist will be playing in his final ODI series and will be looking to go out with a bang.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni
He can be swashbuckling with the bat and secure with the wicketkeeping gloves. His neck-length hair adds to his dash. Though Dhoni made his first-class debut in the 1999-2000 season, it was only in 2004 that he became a serious contender for national selection with some stirring performances when the occasion demanded. Dhoni is an awesome cricketer and will be looking to lead India with both the bat and from behind the stumps.

Kumar Sangakarra
highly talented left-handed strokemaker, a slick wicketkeeper, a sharp-eyed strategist and an even sharper-tongued sledger, capable of riling even the most unflappable characters During the early days his wicketkeeping could be ragged at times, but his effortless batting oozed class from the start. He possesses the grace of David Gower but the attitude of an Australian. His approach is naturally aggressive and his greatest weakness is a capacity to over-react when the adrenaline really starts to pump. At the outset he was happier on the back foot but a fierce work ethic and a deep interest in the theory of batsmanship helped him round off his game, and he is now as comfortable driving through the covers as cutting behind point.

So there are the players that I bet you are looking forward to see in action throughout the next month. Coming next will be the ?Fantasy Cricket? selections where you can select 3 players from each side and hope to gain some serious points and win prizes, so catch us next time for the Fantasy cricket and squads announcement

Well there we go the build up is on and it looks exciting I was happy to be in the ?classy top order? section but can really understand how important this series is going to be. Chappell tried to talk to me about pacing my innings but I wasn?t really interested and I think that its something we can sort out depending on the situation. First game vs. Australia and I am pumped for it.

Today we had a long net session at the SCG and Ojha and I went to the main and chatted for a while just thinking about the game. Ojha is not as much of a one day player as test but will be looking to get into the side and hoping to get picked for the first ODI game. I batted well in the nets and am just hoping that I get a bowl as I dominated both Sehwag and Ganguly today and Dhoni told me to keep going ;)
