Cricket in USA??

As a cricket fan who has lived in the US his whole life, I am not getting my hopes up. Every couple of years some business minded entrepreneur tries to start one and its always a massive failure. The only way I could see it working is if they allow the Canadians to play a big part.

edit: friend, dont comment on things you know nothing about, there are over 5 000 cricket clubs in the US and over 100,000 active cricketers. Add to that about 10 million ex pats from cricket playing nations. There is a solid base here. Our u19 team is one step away from qualifying for the u19 WC in NZ also.

yup no country should be taken as granted may they make new records and there league gets to be a big hit.great thread rahul really important information regarding cricket 5 stars to thread.:cheers

Nice try. Wont be success. Better it will not even take off.

It isn't new. The USA team once featured in even the Champions Trophy! I never had any high hopes though. Their people are way too much interested in playing baseball,...it's unlikely that cricket will ever be a major sport there.

No there isn't. The only people I've met who know anything about here cricket have been West Indian, or have an English parent or something. Friend does have a point, most people in the USA don't know a thing about cricket. I don't see how you could say it's a solid base when the game isn't even in their vocabulary.

Yes, I highly doubt if cricket would make the Americans (I mean the hardcore ones, not the ones with an Indian/Pakistan/British origin, relations, etc) sit up and watch it with interest. They expect too much of adrenalin in their sports, and cricket doesnt provide them with that much (even in Twenty20)

"American's like to see SuperStars"

Well that's too bad, in cricket we don't have to many superstars. This will never work.

Exactly, I'm sure there are exceptions but how many American Americans would you find? Most/almost all probably originate from cricket playing countries.

Maybe if players hit a six off every ball then the Americans will get interested.
