Merged with Chetan's thread. (They're both on the same topic).

There are a lot of players that could do it as as long as you have a strike rate of 145 or so and you bat through most of the innings. It's just tough to bat through the whole innings and maintain that sort of strike rate. I think there will be an ODI 200 sometime soon though. Maybe a few years time.

Charles Coventry? No?

Woops.

Three ODI World Cup. It might happen then, against a minnow nation.

If someone like David Warner has one good game in the tournament....

Jesse Ryder or McCullum, both big hitters who open, and get to play on some smaller grounds

8th of February 2010 is when an ODI double century will be scored. Brendon McCullum at his home ground. I'll be there and I'll tell yous all about it.

So you don't think that a Sri Lankan can hit the first ever 200 in ODI's?

Well Sachin Tendulkar missed on two occasions this year
163* Vs NZ
175* vs Aus
I think that Sachin would be one of the players to get a 200.
I also bet for Dilshan, Viru, Gayle, and Smith.

Whoever is gonna make a 200 isnt going to be a batsmen thats a slogger ala. Sehwag, McCullum or Warner.

You can quote me on that> :spy

That could be true, it could very well end up being a classy, highly skilled batsman on a good day...

Sehwag might slam a double century the very next day and prove you wrong. :p The guy might be a slogger, but he sure knows how put up some dauntless knocks on the board. He has the potential; just needs a bit of luck now, to achieve this feat. Can happen anytime this decade.
