oh, for a subculture the scene is pretty big over here.....maybe the biggest in whole europe i guess.....

We do have some people here who leech off Welfare (our social program), however you can only be on unemployment for 1 year here and then welfare for 4 years, after that your on your own.

well, people get some kind of welfare forever....but they changed it, so if you reject too many job offers or dont apply for jobs they can shorten it......

You can't claim Job seekers allowance if it doesn't look like you are looking for work.

Well that's how it's supposed to work, but in reality you can spend a couple of minutes filling a form in to "prove" you have looked for work.

I started uni in late september, due to my school year I wasn't able to claim jobs seekers allowance until the next school year (beginning of september) despite being unemployed 18 and having finished my exams. But I could claim in september as I wasn't in uni yet (despite having my loans sorted, my student bank account set up) even though i would only have been able to work for about 3 weeks.

It was a bit of a farce really as I got 120 quid.
