England In India - October 2011/12

and I am going tomorrow as well - was expecting the atmosphere between the fans to be awesome when I booked the tickets :facepalm

I don't understand why people are criticising India so much,

India played so well against South Africa in South Africa in the test series before the world cup, it was an even better bowling lineup and the conditions were even more difficult, and Sachin played well there for those who question his abilities on difficult wickets and conditions.
He has an average of 58 in Australia, 55 in England, and 47 in South Africa, that defines his performances in difficult conditions in tests. He is not playing that well in the current series, that doesn't mean you start questioning his ability.

And speaking about Sehwag, he is an impact player, he scores at such a high strike rate and yet he has such a good average, he can destroy the bowlers on his day, such players just take the game away from the opposition when they click, and i guess Sehwag is consistent enough as an opener to continue that role.
Just 1 bad inning in the current match and people are beginning to say stupid things about him.

And there are no excuses for India's performance in the current series,
England performed brilliantly, i salute them for the way they have performed in the series. :thumbs

I just want the Indian fans to have faith in the team, it will bounce back for sure. They have played so well in recent times, they have played well in the toughest of the situations. They wouldn't have won the WC if they were not good enough.

If you want to blame someone, than blame the Indian management, its the worst management India has ever had in years. The team selection has also been horrible, they need to pick specialists for all three formats instead of just making short term adjustments all the time when the team is in a bad situation. And BCCI is as usual into money making, and they are not even allowing are players to play in the English county, Big bash, or Sri lankan premiere league, I would love to see the youngsters playing in different conditions instead of just playing in our local domestic matches.

You're only as good as your last game, in which case, England were amazing & India were awful.

Because they don't even look like they're trying. Sehwag walking off half an hour early because he couldn't be arsed to field anymore was horrid to be honest.

The batting line up will bounce back certainly, they ooze class, but their bowling attack wouldn't be good enough for an English domestic side to be honest, they really have been diabolical. Even with Khan, they're pretty naff.

Worst day ever! Miserable tour so far. Will the ODI's give some change? Hope so.

Firstly no, the SA bowling attack overall and conditions was not better than England here. That is the massive difference that enabled India to escape that series with a draw compared to this series.

South Africa didn't have back-up to Steyn/Morkel. India batsmen after they were blown away in that first test, found a way see of those two in the final two test a score of the average S Africa back-up bowlers in Tsotsobe, Harris.

You compare that to ENG here and IND have had no respite or weak links in the England attack to feed on its been a consistent barrage of pressure from 4 quicks in Anderson/Tremlett/Bresnan/Broad.

S Africa thanks to political selections were not able to pick better bowlers like Ryan McLaren, Fridel De Wet or Imran Tahir to back-up Steyn/Morkel in that test series. If they did its very possible IND would have gotten the same drubbing like they got on this tour so far.

On Tendulkar any criticism of him based on his struggles in this series are indeed foolish. The great man has scored runs against all the great fast bowlers in testing conditions all over the world. He could fail this entire series and that wouldn't dent his reputation one bit - he is already a proven legend.

Will the ODI's give some change? Hope so.

Although England have been pretty decent in ODI cricket for a couple of years (post the 5-0 in India), I'd put my money on India.

That is until I saw the Indian squad that's been picked, they just have a massive dearth of batsmen who can score quickly and the bowling looks weak. When you also work into the equation that its in England I might, just might, put England slight favourites.

In conclusion I have no idea what'll happen.

Reading that post back it makes little sense and I go from one extreme to the other. WAC.

Would have been such a scary sight before this match knowing that England had crushed India without the help of Cook and Strauss. Now they join the party and it's total ownage.

Loved the comment from Vaughan I think it was on the highlights who said if you had watched today's cricket and it had been Bangladesh playing instead of India you would have questioned if they should be playing test cricket with such an attitude

Another name the selectors should look at is Varun Aaron who alongside Umesh Yadav is one of the two fastest bowlers in India (Yadav being the other, of course). Take a chance on them, I say. Like I said, they can't possibly bowl worse than this. Both have done decently in the 3 day matches in the Emerging Players tournament.

ROFL at Sehwag walking off, that's just poor.

Cook is a class opener, his game has moved on so much since that period in which he was dropped.
