Not without inadvertently changing other players in the database with the same name.
i.e. if I changed Alan Smith to Stuart Cullington, some players with the first name Alan becomes Stuart & players with the surname Smith may change to Cullington.
Japanese surnames are too common. I was thinking Thai, or African. I can't think of two Thais with the same first or last names (of course I don't know many). There are a few Zimbabwean cricketers with first and last names that both seem likely to be uncommon, I presume footballers would be the same.
