Agree with User, career diaries are not easy to do. If you check out Tom's story, you'd realize how he used to make his story look real. That's what a career story should be like. Suren's story didn't go for as long as Tom's but his story was remarkable too. Basically, you have done well so far with the updates but as the story progresses make sure that the story seems real. You might wanna check Tom's story to get some inspiration. Good luck!
Well, my career with Tasmania would have never started if I would have not seen the missed calls from Cricket Tasmania on correct time. What was more surprising was there was a message left out which stated Seeing your brilliant performance for school levels, Cricket Tasmania wish to offer you a rookie contract. We were unable to reach you, so try revert back as soon as possible. Chairmen Tony Harrison & President of Cricket Tasmania Glenn Gillies are excited to meet you.
I told my cousin who was next to me to pinch me as I could not believe what I just saw. I called Cricket Tasmania and had one of the most awesomest conversation. They were a bit dismantled when I told them I was not in Australia as they wanted me to join the net sessions with the coach Tim Coyle. I was told to take the very first flight to Hobart. Tim Coyle had arranged a small batting camp for the team. I was excited about this.
My cousin was more excited then me and we were dancing like hell, before I slipped myself on the floor and injured my self. It was a painful situation where I was not been able to get up. I knew I have got myself into a big trouble. My cousin Dirgh, took me to the nearest hospital where I was dedicated tear in my knee muscles. I was been advised 2 weeks complete rest and if necessary a tiny surgery. I was completely screwed as I now knew before starting my career I have already let Cricket Tasmania down and did not have a clue how would they react to this, and what will I be saying.
Well, I was really afraid and did not know the consequences, when Cricket Tasmania would know about my injury. Leaving the fact of injury, they would be really angry with the reason I give for the cause of injury. We immediately after returning home booked my ticket for Hobart as I had to join the team as soon as possible. I had a flight later tonight with 12 hours still remaining.
I was really tired after a hectic day, first getting almost caught with drugs, then almost missing the chance to represent Cricket Tasmania and then I have almost made myself unavailable for nets. The three almost have ruined my day so far but I was looking to make my day better.
I went up the terrace of the building I was living in; thought would smoke my last weed in India for the time being. It was really a big day for me. I soon went off to dreams where I was imagining to play for Cricket Australia. Playing for Tasmania will be a good opportunity and I will try and give my best shot. I came back home and packed my bags and left for airport. I had a 4.00 AM flight to catch. I am really looking forward to for the next day where I could possibly meet many international stars and finally would face my life?s biggest challenge to tell the coach and chairmen about my injury. The flight soon took off and I was soon off to sleep.
I reached my place on early Monday morning. I was jet lagged and it was quite difficult for me to freshen up immediately and move to the Tasmania Cricket Association Ground where I was to join my other team mates from Tasmania team. Tasmania have had a good run in recent past in all formats and many greats have originated from this area. Although Ricky Ponting my idol would not be available with Tasmania for this season due to international commitment I was hoping to meet him once in a life time.
I left from my place towards the ground where Tim Coyle our coach had arranged a small batting camp. I parked my vehicle on the ground and walked nervously to the stage which I have always been dreaming off. I saw few batsman practicing their shots in front of bowling machines and there are few who are chatting. Their on the right I saw Tim Coyle speaking to a figure who from back seemed Ricky Ponting. I was nervous extremely nervous. I still had to inform Tasmania Cricket and the coach about my injury and was really afraid to see their reaction.
I went upto the coach and in a husky voice said, "Hello Sirrr! Parth Kadakia here, wicket keeper batsman from HWS Cricket Club." The first thing I spoke to the coach which was really nerve holding. He told me to first go and meet the president of Tasmania Cricket who is present today at the batting camp. I limped out to search Glenn Gillies who is the president. He was pretty happy to see me and told he expects a lot from me and I should immediately start training. I saw his office where there was a cabinet which displayed the upcoming talents from 1990's and I was part of 2012. I was really delighted to see my name with the likes of Ricky Ponting, Tim Paine etc.
I still had not informed Glenn about my injury and thought it would be better to have a word with coach. I had heard a lot of Tim who is regarded as a soft spoken and light hearten person.
I and Tim had a great conversation.
- Hello Sir, I am really excited to join the batting camp but there is a small problem which might make you angry.
- What is it Kadakia?
- Sir, as I got the news of me getting selected for Tasmania Cricket, in excitement I teared off my knee ligament and have been advised 2 weeks off from anything. If this continues I have been advised a tiny surgery too.
- Well, thats not the best of the news you are giving us folk. We have been struggling with few players out for international duties and few injured and your this news has been really disappointing to say the least.
- I am extremely sorry Sir to disappoint you, what were my chances of playing this season?
- Well folk you are injured right now and you are asking me this question? Anyways as it you will have to pass a fitness test before joining the team, lets see how the injury stands.
We both went to fitness center where Tim Coyle was pretty relaxed about my injury. He told me Doctors back in India had over exaggerated and I will be fine playing and practicing. I still had to be careful though but it was a very little tear and that will be treated seeing the modern cricketing standards. As soon as I walked out of the fitness center I saw Ricky Ponting coming towards us . This was just dream come true and I told Tim Coyle that I have always seen Ricky as my idol. He told me lets have a chat
- Hey Tim! So is this the new folk?
- Oh yes Rick! This is Parth Kadakia, who has finally joined us today and will soon be starting with the batting nets.
- Hello Ricky Sir! I have always dreamed to meet you once and play with you and here I am today in front of you. This is dream come true.
Nice chat with Ponting there. Did he had some batting tips to share?
Nice going mate. I like that, every update is very detailed and I can see that you're trying to build up a good storyline here, which is the most important thing about a story.
