Well now that the big man has called it a day, which means for me the three "speed demons" of world cricket that emerged a decade plus ago in Lee, Akhtar and Bond are all gone now sadly.

Also it means Ponting is the only AUS left now of the past dominant era.

I would never forget that 1999/00 home season when he came on the seen versus India when he seemed to bowl at the speed of light and scared the life out the Indian's.

Tremendous ODI bowler, although he had a good 3 years as test bowler between Brisbane 2005 - Bridgetown 2008, before injuries forced him into test retirement later that year. I think its fair to say he fell short of the as a test bowler, given the talent he had.

For years McGrath/Gillespie/Warne took wickets and carried him in the test attack.

Whats your favourite Brett Lee Moment??

Every moment haha, actually not when he was destroying us Kiwi's. :p

One of my favourite Aussie cricketers ever.

Is it officially the end of 155 KPH era? I don't see any bowler in World cricket at the moment who can bowl an over of speeds of above 150 KPH. Coming to the man, Lee was one of the finest ODI bowlers of all time. He could have done better in test cricket but batsmen feared facing him. That is what will make him stand out among other bowlers of his era.

Easily one of the most likable personalities in cricket. I bet he'll be around in cricket media for a long time.

Sad that there are no more genuine fast bowlers, it's the only thing that makes cricket exciting IMO.

My favorite Australian player. He was bit unfortunate to share the era with Warne and Mcgrath because his stats would have definitely improved without them. Still, he was a classy, lovable and never got into controversy (?). Respect.

World Cricket is now flooded with military medium bowlers. Only Steyn occasionally crosses 150. Yadev did a few times in Australia but his pace is bound to go down with some Indian coach telling him to bowl line and length. I think this is the worst drought of genuine pacers in history of world cricket. I hope Pakistan produces one asap. The team needs one but more importantly cricket need one too.

I would really be upset if that happens. There have been so many pace bowlers who have went that way for us. Ishant Sharma, Munaf Patel, and others. Yadav has the raw pace, I'd love to see him keep bowling those fast deliveries.

Coming to the topic, Brett Lee is one of the most loved cricketers, I feel. Wherever he goes, he has his fans. Such a fantastic person, really have a lot of respect for him. I've seen some of his superb bowling spells. He's the only reason I followed KXI in the IPL when he was with the franchise. True hero of the game. Always gives his hundred percent playing for any team.

When i think of Lee at his ultimate best from now on, it would have to be that ODI vs New Zealand in 2005, when i bowled 100 mph:

Brett Lee FASTEST OVER SEEN IN NEW ZEALAND 2005 - YouTube

Son was bowling at the speed of light that day.

I think Shaun Tait could do it consistently. He did bowl 100 mph in England 2010. But he has been injured so much, that he probably won't anymore.

Don't even mention Shaun Tait in the same thread as Brett Lee, the guy has a horrible bowling action compared to Lee's perfect bowling style. :p

The bowler whose I bowling action I tried to copy when I took the cricket ball for the first time in my hands. Binga was always a treat to watch. He made it look so easy. Australia and world cricket will miss the quality bowler.

I wonder who will fill in his boots now? Shaun Tait has pace and can be lethal at times but I think he has restricted himself to T20. Any chance for bringing back Mitchell Johnson?

really sad to see this brett lee also retired from international cricket just after 2 days when boucher called it of. :( surely brett lee will be remembered as one of the best fastest bowler.

Lol at the thread title. Angryangy's doing? :spy

Anyway, one word to sum up Brett Lee? Australian.
