As an Australian Cricket Fan I'm disgusted...

I can knd of see what you mean Adarsh, If people did it over hair colour then there wouldn't be the fuss, yet both are making fun of people for their differences and both are wrong. I guess it's because of the fact racism has gone so much further than just a joke with people like hitler that its considered less acceptable. If somebody is annoying then you can call them annoying (or a ruder word like you used) it's more acceptable because there choosing to be annoying whilst there is nothing wrong being black and that is just being another person, they were born that way and theres nothing wrong with it whilst if someones a nob then they are choosing to be a nob so it's acceptable for you to cal them a nob. Sreesanth. :p

Because heckling involves bagging their ability, their hair, or their girlfriend. Racism involves bagging their skin, which is not chosen by them, and etc. etc. etc. NOT GOOD!

You can't possibly believe every Indian is ignorant to the racist undertones behind calling a Black person a monkey?

in indians itelf they r many people who have black skin...its nuttng do wit skin color or hair...it just people were makin fun of symonds look..the long braided hair and the white cream on his mouth...

Because heckling is light hearted most of the times (Well, it is in England anyway) but there is nothing light hearted about racism.
As I said, I didn't include teasing. You get heckling in many places which isn't very light hearted, yet that's barely noticed. For example, if a footballer might often get shouted at by angry fans. I find that no better than being racist.

And what is the probability that the Indians in the crowd that called him a monkey (just about a dozen in a country of billions) did it with intentions of racist undertones? The actual probability is very low. Of course, I understand the point of view you and others come from; I understand now that calling a black person a monkey can be terribly offensive, but that does not automatically categorize their abuse as being racist.

Again, why is being racist worse than being rude and heckling in other ways? I'm not at all condoning either, I'm just wondering why people get wound up when a guy is being racist but not when one guy calls another a frickin b******d .
It's because of you. And me. And everyone who is in society. Racism is outlined as an offense that is greater than any. Even with this very issue--the only reason this abuse is getting any limelight is because it is supposedly "racist". If the crowd called Symonds an idiot, there would be no issue whatsoever because calling someone an idiot is not a racist comment (as far as I know, but apparently I can make and be held responsible for racist comments without knowing it).

The world is progressing in a certain direction and it is because the majority of humans like that direction... or a minority of humans (politicians) convince that majority that they like that direction.

Point 1: Indian fans were arrested

Pont 2: ICC asked Sharad Pawar( BCCI persident) to take action

Point 3: I was there for the T20 match..and the message was displayed all across the stadium that racism is a crime also police as well as Army was deployed at the venue in the crowds to check for people's comments.

Point 4: Agreed calling a black guys monkey is racist....isn't it Australia where it has emerged?(Murali episode) and lots other which hasn't been reported

Point 5: If ICC has aked ACB to check for racism what's big deal in that?

I agree that sometimes Aussie crowds are unfairly blamed for all the racial abuse, but you must admit that their crowds have a fairly large and a very vocal minority that gives them a bad name.
I agree with that, as does every other nation's crowds.

Let's face it, there will always be racism but if a campaign can stop some of the less malicious guys then that's great!

Personally in my first ever test match, against Pakistan, I heard a racist comment, when one of the batsmen was playing and missing a lot and the guy near me screamed out 'Hit it you black b******'

Personally I find that it's just something that is always going to happen, but that can be countered still. But to single out Australia would be grossly unfair.

I don't understand how the Indians were being racist to Symonds..

They are just as dark as he is.. I think that its just cause of the hair and stuff.

And you people need to realize what racism is. Get over yourselves, Get past it. I've seen people killed because of what colour they are.. Thats racism. You really can't expect as a proffesional cricket to not encounter some sort of abuse. Of course, it can be a bad experience but really MOST of the stuff on cricket fields is really minor, and I don't see it anyworse than someone commenting on your new hairstyle..

Its a body.. get over it. People are labelling everything as racism. I remember when Murali was getting called no balls against Darryl Hair.. People were saying it was racism. Jesus Christ, Its the stupidest thing ever. Same as in India, Same as when Hair called the game off against Pakistan and he was labbelled Racist. He followed the rule book. If a team doesn't face the field the game may be called off. Thats what he did, it's not racist, it's the rules. I think people who call this sort of stuff racism are more racist than the perpetrators.. they think "OMG SYMONDS IS BLACK SO IT MUST BE RACISM!"

Pfft.

yeah, take it slow. Calm down.

Darrel Hair was not labelled racist, actually he labelled ICC & PCB Racist, what rules book Eh?? he thinks that Pakistan are cheating without any evidence he calls the game of. and no rule book allows guilty unless proven. Bull crap.

well some people dont beleive this....thats y they keep on arguing again n again...

wit point 4..in india itself there r many people wit black skins...so it has nuttin to do wit racisim..

There are set of bad people in every community, (Bad Pakistanis, Bad Australians, Bad Indian, Bad Cristians, Bad Muslims etc.. etc..) You don’t blame the whole community for the set of people. But you don’t say that they don’t exist.

Also, Indians don't have black skins, Unless they are half cast.
Indians are South-Asians people. Their skin may be "Darker" then other Indians.

1: No, he called the game off because the idiots wouldn't take the field. He did nothing against the rules. If a team doesn't take the field, they game is forfeit.

2:Say whatever you want.. The Indians who were doing the monkey thing to symonds were nearly exactly the same skin tone as him.

1. phew..... "hah..No evidence"

Do u choose your ability? You wouldnt choose to bad would you? Your reflexes, hard eye co ordination and concentration are all natural. In what way is this different from racism?

Also the abuse that Symonds got was racially motivated but did not have the same connotations as it would in a European country say. I think the implication was more Symonds was brutish rather than Symonds was sub human but still not acceptable behaviour.
