The Stanford 20/20 was a cricket tournament in the Caribbean island of Antigua.
It was held first in July and August 2006 in the West Indies at the Stanford Cricket Ground, St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda, and the same place the year after. It is a variety of the popular Twenty20 format first introduced in English cricket in 2003.
The 2008 season was part of the official calendar of the WICB. Initially it was planned to include two additional teams from the region in the 2008 competition, Cuba and the Turks and Caicos Islands, increasing the number of teams participating to twenty-one (21).
After 2008 WICB decided not to conduct it when its sponsor Allen Stanford was charged with fraud and arrested in June 2009.
It is back after 7 years again in WICB calendar.
Due to Allan Stanford’s issues, the league was renamed as “The Caribbean T20 Championship”.
In 2015 20 teams will participate but the teams are different from 2008 except few teams.
Rather than previous seasons this season had a lot number of venues to play.
Winner of this league will qualify to Champions League T20 I
