England face Auckland for another 3 day game, this time a slightly stronger home side after the inclusion of John Wright and Danny Morrison and a couple of other players.
A flat pitch means a different England XI attack from the 1st game, with veteran Ian Botham hoping to prove his form and fitness ahead of what could be one of his last Test series.
A flat pitch and a slighty iffy weather forecast means another draw is likely here.

The England XI openers got their side off to a good start, both Graham Gooch and Alec Stewart posting half centuries after they added 95 for the 1st wicket.
After they were out middle order batsmen Neil Fairbrother and Mark Ramprakash took over adding 140 for the 5th wicket before Fairbrother was unluckily out in the 90's.
The England XI declared their innings closed at 294/5 after Ramprakash had reached an unbeaten half century, 3 wickets to offspinner Patel the only joy for the home side.

A pitch that will heavily favour the spinners means a result seems likely here.
The New Zealand Emerging Players seem to lack a class player or two and they may struggle in this game, particularly if they bat 2nd.
With selection for the 1st Test still undecided this is an important game for the England XI, with a number of fringe players hoping to impress.

The England XI won an important Toss and batted first on a pitch expected to break up and favour spin later in the match and their openers gave them a good start.
Mike Atherton and Alec Stewart both made half centuries as they shared an opening stand of 143 and the rest of the batsmen got useful batting practice in a good first innings by the tourists.
Left arm spinner Mark Priest was the best of the home side's bowlers with 3 wickets, enjoying the extra turn on offer from a helpful pitch.

New Zealand Emerging Players v England XI - 3 day match - at Trust Bank Park, Hamilton - 1991/2 - New Zealand Emerging Players 1st Innings

The home side struggled against some good England XI bowling and could only post a total of 170 as they trailed on 1st innings by 91 runs.
Allrounder Justin Vaughan made a solid half century, while fast bowler David Lawrence and left arm spinner Richard Illingworth shared 7 wickets for the visitors.
With the pitch expected to get worse for batting on Day 3 the England XI are now heavily favoured to post their first win in a First Class game on tour.

New Zealand U-Bix XI v England XI - 3 day match - at McLean Park, Napier - 1991/2 - Match Preview

Pitch:
113 - The pitch is quite damp on top suggesting heavy watering overnight, the faster bowlers should get some help until it dries out completely.
Generally the wicket should play easily with just the possibility that any damage caused to the soft surface on Day 1 may begin to cause problems late in the match.

Weather: Day 1 - 2 - Hot and Sunny, Day 2 - 3 - Sunny, some cloud about, Day 3 - 2 - Hot and Sunny

A better pitch than the last game means we might struggle for a result here, with a Green pitch early in the game offering the bowlers some hope before it flattens out.
The U-Bix XI look a decent team, perhaps lacking a top class batsman or two, but should put up a decent fight.
With most of the England XI attack for this game struggling for wickets in their first 3 day game this is an important game for the visitors bowlers in particular.
