T20 World Cup 2024 (West Indies/USA)

Pakistan spirit is not there guys maybe make Rizwan captain and bring in Sammy as coach then they return to there glory days

In three post by @cricfan123 he went from Shoaib coaching to Sammy to Gary unfit!

I mean it. Babar Azam is almost singlehandedly holding our white-ball cricket back. I haven't posted much in this thread because i found it hard to root for this team. At times i even wished the USA won today, when he was batting on 6 off 20 and relied on Shadab to come in and do the hitting.
Today's results rewards a modern approach to T20 cricket, and punishes an outdated one.
This completely sums up why I've spent weeks saying I expected Pakistan to lose this game specifically.

The team has been going backwards for a while, and seems now to have got all the way back to about 2008, what with four pace-on bowling options and two anchors at the top of the order. It's particularly frustrating to watch as you guys are selecting most of the right players and then playing them in completely the wrong order.

The biggest concern should be the fact that Pakistan, a former WC winner and the runners-up of the last WC looked mentally shot after the final ball of the twentieth over and were twice as nervous and worried during the entirety of the super over compared to an associate side that is playing in their first WC.

They made an extremely good comeback to restrict the flow of boundaries and put themselves in the winning position. A bad death over can always happen in this format but even after that last over had they kept their heads focused they would have been likely favourites in the super over given their momentum.

Instead we saw Babar berate Rauf terribly and the body language of the team completely drop. Not sure what exactly happened in the super over discussions but Amir, an experienced T20 bowler who had previously bowled a splendid over in the death conceded three wides, Rizwan who is one of the best glovemen out there couldn’t effect a runout on any of the three occasions and their fielding looked disinterested.

And even then, they still could have chased it down. This was probably the first time Netravalkar was bowling a super over in international cricket and yet they opted to not have the left handed batter face him first. They also delayed their arrival to the crease. Incredibly enough, Fakhar didn’t bat a single ball of the over either despite possibly being the most destructive batter in the side.

Think Pakistan lost the game at 19.6 and not in the super over ultimately, the latter was just a mere playing out of the inevitable.
That's been a persistent problem, especially with Babar.
Will make a longer post tomorrow i think

Appointing Shaheen was a good step, we started structuring our XI better. Then they decided to bring back Babar.
Anyway, don't think i've processed the match enough to coherently write down everything i feel, will do it later. I was sure something like this would happen the moment Babar was reappointed, and since then the things i need to get off my chest have just kept increasing. Was just waiting to be vindicated in the World Cup, and now it's done.
