Yeah, anyone'd look a bit feeble compared to their country's best ever cricketer
Siraj is having his best calendar year (so far) by average. His average in Australia is only behind Bumrah and Kapil Dev for Indian pace bowlers with 20 wickets or more. It's just that Bumrah is alongside the likes of Hadlee and Ambrose whereas Siraj is only averaging similar to Imran Khan, Dale Steyn, Botham, Donald.

Yet a lot of Indian fans treat him like he's a bloke who got picked out the crowd to bowl.

Calling out the entire rest of this thread is pretty brave. I will say, as much as he has 0 wickets, I was impressed with Akash today - I thought he was clearly the second best of the bowlers

Take Bumrah out and even Hazelwood and Lyon would score double tons against this attack.
That's a bit extreme. I think the bowlers are doing okay compared to what our batsmen have been putting up for them to play with.

It's the batting that is the problem. It was in the NZ series too.

Akash Deep deserved a couple of wickets atleast from the top order the way he bowled yesterday.

But thats how it goes in International cricket.

Remember Pankaj Singh in 2014 in England going through something similar.

I think it's tough being the other bowlers when you're playing alongside a guy putting up all time great numbers.

I accept that Bumrah can make others look bad. However, the truth is the rest are merely mediocre. I note your point regd Siraj in the other post, but you gotta look at whether he performs where required. So far, during the BGT, I havent seen a good spell from Siraj that can shake up the Aussies.

Rana and Reddy are new -hence you can give them a longer rope. Now, when you compare with Australia, Starc is world class. Even if he isnt bowling, the rest keep on coming at you. You take out Hazlewood, Boland creates troubles. Why cant the Indian bowlers do this?

The only time I ever saw them do so, was at the Gabba in the previous BGT- Natarajan, Shardul, Siraj all bowled well that time.

'OKAY' is the word. For a team that has been on the top for some years, 'OKAY' isnt really acceptable, is it? One could argue that poor captaincy cost us some games, especially when we had them 3/something and the batsmen go on to score tons. Apart from Bumrah, the others seem content with merely bowling. There doesnt seem to be any thought process behind the actual bowling. It is all mechanical. For the likes of Siraj and Jadeja, they ought to strategically bowl rather than simply running in.

The batting- well, that is a mega problem. We are already 1-down in the first innings. As predicted by many, the BGT will spell the end of a few careers for sure.

I also want to take this opportunity and speak about the home track bully- Jaiswal. While, he got a hundred at Perth, he seems out of sorts against quality bowling. He had an issue in South Africa as well. On home tracks, he is quite the bully.

You say that like there's non-average (Siraj is averaging 25 this series, let's say that's average rather than mediocre) options in the Ranji. Like, I mean...

Also, shoutout Cricfan for finally being right about Gill - it took literal Superman to get rid of him

Edit to add - I do think this should be the end of Jadeja. That was awful, and you do have other spin options

Let's take mediocrity in terms of ' thoughtful bowling'. I think we can all agree that Siraj simply runs in and delivers. That's it. I dont think he has a plan when it comes to bowling, unlike Bumrah.

True! Jadeja originally got into the team, courtesy his 2/3 triple hundreds in Ranji. Post that, he failed to make any impact as a batsman and was favoured largely by MSD. I also feel the BGT will be the end of Ashwin's career as well. They might let him play in the next home series, as a farewell gesture, but the truth is, the selectors ought to now take a tough stance and blood in new guys.

We are losing anyway, might as well lose with new blokes.
