Exactly YET I am talking about in three years time, who knows what he will do in that time. When was the last time a spinner got 5 wickets against Australia in a test on his ashes debute?

He wasnt on debut... he played in england before hand and i dont rate monty at all to be a good spinner in modern day cricket you need variation warne has it muri has it its what sets apart the good spinners and the great ones

I corrected my self lol. And the only reason Monty doesn't have variation is becuase Fletcher and Vaughn keep trying to tell him how to bowl, if the now guy is up to the job you should see Monty becuase a potent part of England attack.

Panesar will get better without Fletcher no doubt but he was never that outstanding in the first place also he only was influenced by Fletcher in ODI's not Tests and averaging 37 against Australia is not world class

But taking that average from 3 tests against a rampant team on pitches that didn't do anything for spinenrs unless your name was S.WARNE is not a fair way to judge averages.

and he must get used to using pitches which dont spin because they dont doctor every pitch just for monty he will have to find other ways of getting wickets

Your whole argument is rubbish, there have been plenty of bowlers well off warnes class that have first class 10 wicket hauls, just because someone doesn't have 700 test wickets doesn't mean they can't get lucky one day. It happens, and you totaly missed the point of the previous post, taking a test average from 3 games against a rampant Aussie side is not the best way to do things. You can't possibly know that in 4 years time Monty will not have taken a 10 wicket haul in first class cricket, im not saying he could do it in tests, but to say a game is 'unrealistic' becuase of a one off incident that is not beyond the realms of possibility and has happened to lesser bowlers than Monty. Anil Kumble has a test 10 wicket haul, yet the best Murali and Warne can manage is 9 and 8 respectivly. Does this mean that Kumble was a better bowler than them? The most wickets in an innings is very little indicator of a bolwers skill, and this is even more true in first class, were batsmen are of a lower quality and a decent bowler with a bit of look can take lots of wickets.

I shall repeat, as everybody missed it obviously:
EDDIE HEMMINGS ONCE GOT TEN WICKETS IN AN INNINGS. so any good bowler should be capable.

and also, Shane Warne's test debut was a monumental failure.
but comparing anyone to Warne is unfair, as he is the greatest spinner in the history of the game (and I shall add that I am an England supporter who hates the guy!). to get close to Warne's achievements, you need to be a chucker!
