WCC Club World Cup is the World Championship of club cricket played in the 50-over format.
The tournament is organized by the sport's global governing body, World Cricket Conference every year.
2001 WCC CLUB WORLD CUP
The 2001 WCC Club World Cup is scheduled to be the first edition of the tournament after being taken over by the World Cricket Conference.
Previously known as the Super League, the tournament was originally incepted by the Cricket Board of India before they sold the rights to WCC.
Canada will host the Club World Cup after successfully winning the bid to host the tournament at the 2001 Annual World Cricket Conference Summit early in the year.
Five venues will be used across the country to host matches in five separate cities with the Toronto Cricket, Skating & Curling Club hosting the final on September 23.
As hosts of the tournament, Canada will also receive a second team berth, allowing the runners-up of their Canadian One-Day Cup to feature in the Club World Cup.
There will be a total of twelve 50-over club champions from cricketing nations across the world taking part in this competition, three more than the previous season's nine.
The twelve participating clubs will be divided into four groups of three with the top-two teams from each group advancing to play in the knockout stage of the tournament.
The knockout stage of the tournament will consist of quarter-finals, followed by semi-finals and finally a grand finale to determine the Club Champions of the World.
