18 Jan- IPL Fixing- Life Ban for Sreesanth, Chavan and Chandilla

So Jagmohan Dhalmiya is the new BCCI president, lesser of the two evils not sure if this is good or great!

As expected the Final Chapter has brought along with it bans for most.

Individuals -

1) Gurunath Meiyappan, Srini's Son in Law and Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra have been suspended from any involvement in cricket for life.

Teams -

1) Both CSK and RR have been banned for 2 years each.

What this does for the IPL remains to be seen. Will it be just a 6 team tournament or new franchises will be auctioned. Will CSK and RR players be allowed to move franchises?

Lodha Committee verdict LIVE: CSK, RR suspended for 2 years; Gurunath Meiyappan, Raj Kundra banned for life | Zee News

EDIT - A small edit of sorts regarding the ban on CSK. There is a bit of confusion about whether CSK has been banned or India Cements has been banned, or both have been banned.

I think its likely that both have been banned.

Also I just heard an interview of Niranjan Shah on TV where he gave two interesting bits of info -

1) BCCI is likely to get new teams in for next season.
2) Srinivasan has been given till September by BCCI to step down as ICC Chairman.

The second bit of info is quite interesting.

It is a very sad news for CSK and RR fans. But good news is that BCCI have 3 options in front of it:
1. Players of both season to be re-auctioned in the next season
2. Players to rest from playing in IPL for 2 years.
3. Teams like Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Pune Warriors India to call back and move the players to these respective teams....
Whatever may be the outcome, it would be great.....

This is really good news and a step in the right direction for Indian cricket, the BCCI and all those involved who hoped that they could get away with it.

Just to clarify, the two IPL teams are banned for 2 years each. When they return, will they have the same owners? What about the players at these teams?

For the next two seasons, can Chennai/RR loan their players to other teams, say Dhoni to Mumbai or Watson to Delhi? That way the teams wouldn't need to start from scratch when they come back.

Great stuff from the Lodha Committee. About time these crooks (Meyiappan and Kundra) were banished from all things cricket. The icing on the cake would be Srinivasan being kicked out of the ICC chair.

It also shows a bad light on some CSK players who attested to the fact that Meyiappan guy was just a "cricket enthusiast" because that has clearly been proved false here.

About the teams, it will be tough for the IPL as both these teams had massive following.

In an order with far-reaching implications, the RM Lodha committee has suspended Indian Cements and Jaipur IPL, the owners of the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals teams, for a period of two years. The committee has also banned for life Gurunath Meiyappan, a former team official of Super Kings, and Raj Kundra, a former Royals co-owner, from any involvement in cricket matches.

First step in annihilating this league!

The company owning the teams are banned, not necessarily the team so if a group of CSK fans on this board can put together a few crores they can purchase team CSK and enter them in next years IPL, well not a legal minded folk but thats what I get from the article on cricinfo.

NO. There is no concept of a loan in IPL. If players are sold/auctioned, they would be released full time and signed full time.

I am quite excited at the prospect of the likes of MSD and Raina, Rahane, Smith, Watson go under hammer.

It promises to be a super super auction.

I think the new teams will get the likes of MSD, Raina & Smith. Older teams won't have that much of cash to afford these guys.[DOUBLEPOST=1436886241][/DOUBLEPOST]

vCash will be enough or not?

What about firing Super kings & Royals, adding new franchises with new owners in those cities.Ex: Deccan Charges turning into SRH.
