18 Jan- IPL Fixing- Life Ban for Sreesanth, Chavan and Chandilla

Yup, also there is news of a tender being given out for 2 teams soon.

With new teams being formed, I am fairly sure that CSK and RR will not be able to retain players. If CSK and RR retain players and all other players already taken, who will the new teams field.

I think that RR and CSK will not be able to retain players.

In a welcome development, the Delhi Police has challenged the Lower court's order which acquitted Sreesanth, and the other two accused, in light of lack of evidence.

Actually have read some conflicting reports on this. Some say the two franchises are being sought only to fill the 2 yr gap for CSK and RR. This seems to be a stupid idea. Why would anyone want a team for only two years.

I dont think anyone gonna buy a franchise for just 2 years after paying a hefty money. What if they win both seasons, you can't just remove them after 2 years.

I think, they will try to just transfer the same CSK and RR teams to new names owned by someone else. So that when CSK and RR come back they can once again keep their core players. But then again, why would anyone agree to this arrangement

I can't wait to support either the chennai mega emperors, or the rajasthan nobles

Might as well put IPL on hold for the next two years. Everyone serve suspension along with CSK and RR :lol:p On a more serious note, I am really hoping CSK do not play the next two IPL's. I want to focus on something really worthwhile. CSK not playing would help me do that. :p:thumbs

I guess it is a good decision and one that shows the definition of just.

This may cost the IPL quite a loss since Chennai Super Kings are one of the big names, but I am happy nonetheless that every team is being treated equally, thus such mistakes aren't forgiven.

Ashok Chandila who was one of the three main accused along with Ankit Chavan and Sreesanth was given a life ban from being in anyway involved in any cricket organised by BCCI of its affiliates.

"Ajit Chandila is banned for life from playing or representing cricket in any form or to be associated in any way with the activities of the Board or its Affiliates. Hiken Shah is banned for five years from playing or representing cricket in any form or to be associated in any way with the board,"

The panel, deferred its pronouncement against umpire Asad Rauf, also accused in the matter, giving him time until February 9 to submit written statements, if any, and produce documents on which he wished to rely on.

"He (Rauf) did not appear in person [for hearing] but sent a reply stating that no fair enquiry has been conducted in his matter and hence a de novo enquiry be held by appointing another enquiry officer. Said request was rejected by Disciplinary Committee," the release said. The final order will be announced on February 12.

There is incidentally no update on actions taken against Sreesanth. Perhaps the final order shall cover it. Hope he gets a life ban too.

Actually there is an update on this. I was wondering why there is no mention of action taken against Sreesanth and Chavan in the report. Why was only Chandilla banned. What about Sreesanth?

Actually the reason why Sreesanth (and Chavan) were not mentioned in the latest update, is because they both have already been banned for life by BCCI for his role in fixing.

Chandilla was the last of the three accused left and he too has been banned now.

So well done BCCI for once.

Yeah. Whoever doesn't play a fair game, they should be banned. Happy with the decision.
