1st Ashes Test Match - Reduced Skills. Full Playtest.

Yup mate. Hard Grassy Pitch. Overcast conditions.

You know what and this is so backwards to how it should be. But i Have never had a good game as far as edges on a grassy pitch.

Also just a thought. Is there an option to take the new ball earlier in the customization bit. This could be a little possible work around as far as the new ball getting more edges.

Interesting. I'll give it another go. This time on a dry cracked pitch. Will keep you guys updated with my findings.

You will get edges on grassy or any pitch with lower attributes if you bowl realistically and shine the ball.I make it a point to shine the ball twice each over particularly when the shine animation plays out. Also bowling is all about changing lengths in Dbc.

Yeah I will do tomorrow. No problem.

What pitch you playing on?

Im hoping im not just having a one off !!!

I played the 1st match on a Hard, Grassy, Worn pitch with Heavy cracks (PRO). I used India and Australia team which were uploaded by @Markkkkk and then changed the attributes like you mentioned before. During 7th over, I managed to get Warner nicking behind when he tried to play a cover drive to a fullish ball around off-stump. After that Watson and Rogers had a 103 run partnership which was broken when I got Rogers LBW by a full, In-Swinging delivery. Currently they are 168-2.

I'll probably start another match on Soft, Dry, Worn pitch with Heavy cracks and see how it goes.

I always shine the ball as it gives me the time to plan the next delivery. So I shine the ball before almost each delivery.
I'm not sure what makes some people have better bowling experience than the others. I'll post some screenshots to show how I generally bowl. As you will be able to see, I generally bowl a pretty good off-stump channel to both LHB and RHB.

To RHB.

To LHB

do you slightly move the RS sideways like @wealey88 does when releasing the ball. Example : have inswing to LHB with RF and and at release slightly move it to say 6 th stump see how it goes.

You also need to mix it a little throw in a few full ones slower ones an d short ones from time to time.

For those of you who are struggling to get edges try setting the BF/FF a bit lower. The settings I advised on the other thread are to make the game challenging yet balanced on pro so don't expect to roll the AI out, as before I have been able to get plenty of edges but the AI has struggled to score more than 200. Also play games in England as you tend to have more favourable conditions.

As far as bowling is concerned what works for me is bowling a few deliveries that are the same then bowling one that is different be it a change of angle, pace, length, swing or a combination of these as opposed to doing something different every ball, although I will change the angle of delivery frequently. For example I may bowl 3/4 outswingers from close to the stumps at around 4m, then bowl a seam up delivery from the standard angle with a bit more pace at 5m. Another example is to bowl 2/3 at around 6m with a couple of bouncers thrown in to get the AI playing on the backfoot, then fire in a yorker.

Quite often I will actually spend 2/3 overs setting the batsman up. It's good to have a plan and to stick with it for a spell and if it doesn't work try something different with the next bowler.

I wouldn't worry about this too much as although I have no doubt that it is advantageous, my PS controllers have been hammered are not sensitive in the slightest any more. As a result I can rarely get the slight change in line that Wealey is getting yet I still get edges.

The reason im suggesting that though is by using that i was able to get proper edges even in legend mode something that was near impossible otherwise with seamers.

To me somehow i would like this gameplay get translated to higher difficulties.

Like I say it is without doubt advantageous but at the same time not having that sensitivity isn't preventing me from getting edges personally.

We all know that there is a problem with the higher levels but I don't like veteran due to the fact they try and smack everything, which is fine for the one-day formats(and I think these settings will be good on veteran and above for 1 day games) but not for the longer ones. It would be so good as mentioned often, if we had the option to select a different level for bowling to batting. So for example batting would be set to veteran while bowling set to pro.

I'm a bit worried that by opting into the latest patch (1.20.1) we've just stopped most of our edges from happening. 120 overs at Zimbabwe and not one edge on PRO, with weakened attributes.

What version are you using Wealey? And is there any way we can roll back to it?

Does playing in England really make a difference? All my games have been at Bradman Oval.

im not sure about how it affects bowling but i have always found batting at bradman oval, wellington(this the most) and colombo easy compared to others.

Its certainly toned down on PC atleast in FC they do respect the good ones much better. Also no atrocious latecuts at-least from what i have played so far.

It definitely helps because there are more overcast/cloudy sessions in England especially the Lancashire stadium.

As for the patches stopping edges, well it's a possibility, but many people were complaining about the lack of edges with the previous patches, yet as Wealey has proved they are still there.

I know they have just been highlights but if anything the gameplay looks slightly improved compared to what I'm getting on the console. The advance shots against the spinner were quite noticeable, something that I am rarely seeing atm.

I meant the most recent patch that came out yesterday.. Perhaps he was wise to opt out..

Wealey this is top stuff man, let us know when you get around to sharing your teams. I'd like to see what happens in the One Day arena using these settings. I also love that the tail isn't posting ridiculous scores and you are getting rid of Nathan Lyon easily. I want to very subtly increase and decrease the stats and see if we can see a difference in team quality
