2011 World Cup Squad Prediction Thread

With just 6 months to go for the carnival to begin, most teams only have a handful of games left before they decide upon their world cup squads. While some teams are almost ready with their squads more or less picking themselves, others are far from clear with their selection.

This thread is about predicting the players from your team who will be on the flight to the subcontinent in 6 month`s time.

I start with India:

I feel this would be a reasonably balanced squad. The batting should hold its own in home conditions. I`ve gone for 7 bowlers with a 5-2 pace-spin combination, all specialists as I don`t think bits and pieces players will win you this World Cup. We should stick to this core, provided we get all of them fit before the Australia ODI series and not experiment too much from then on.

Dhoni would be the 7th batsman and Karthik the second WK and reserve batsman.

Wasn't sure whether Elliott would come, depends on his form between now and then. This is assuming Williamson comes right as well. Mostly self-explanatory, McKay and Southee are basically fighting for one spot in the playing XI.

I cannot wait for the World Cup to start, to be honest. Got so bored of some meaningless series which have no context that I`m so waiting really eagerly for the SL tour to end. From then on, it`ll be Ind-Aus, India-NZ, and then the 2 really big challenges, the tour to SA and then the World Cup at home. So, basically, this tri series in SL is the last of the boring series for us Indian fans.

I pretty much agree with Aditya's squad. But hopefully by the start of the WC Robin Uttappa has made comeback to the Indian team, then he can replace DK as the second WK batsman.

I suppose India would have a similar squad to the ones posted above. Probably Uthappa will get a look in. I hope that Jadeja is kicked out though.But knowing the selectors, they are bound to pick one controversial name atleast.

Predicitng Pakistan's squad will be quite tough. In fact ,predicting their captain will be really tough
