Wow, nice one. :sarcasm We have fielded an all North India XI many a time in the last 2 years (Srikanths term). There are 6 delhi ites alone in the team. KKD is the only tamilian who gets called on a half regular basis in ODI cricket.

Vijay is one of the finest batsman in India. Ashwin performed in the IPL and deserves an ODI call.

Some big players like Lee (if he does come back), Ferguson, Warner, S Marsh will end up missing out.

Hmm don't mind that XI War old mate I like the thinking though, if you're playing Tait, then I think 6 bowling options make sense in case Tait is having a bad day or isn't fit enough to get through his overs. But I'd personally not play Hopes - not a fan, especially at #8. If he's your only all-rounder at #7 then it's passable, but basically as a specialist bowler? No thanks. I'd rather play Hauritz or Lee/Harris instead. All those guys can bat a bit too.

The biggest question is probably at opener and it probably will depend on how good Haddin's form is. If he's playing well I've got no problem with him opening.

Yea Slifer, i basically picked Hopes because i wanted the extra batting. But i do expect either one of Harris/Lee/Hauritz to play instead in that potential best ODI XI.

I really hope D Hussey makes to squad too. Watching him this season in England, he has been superb. Gonna be a interesting battle between him & Ferguson for the extra batting spot. Reckon D Hussey could very well & be in the upcoming ODI squad to India though.

As much as Srikanth is from Chennai, he wont pick Vijay just because he is from Chennai. Srikanth doesnt consider Vijay as a reliable ODI backup. Nothing wrong if he picks Ashwin. Ashwin played well in the ODI's in Zimbabwe (I guess he played only one ODI). Although IPL is not the criteria for national selection, Ashwin has also been a good domestic bowler. After Ojha and Mishra, Ashwin is next in line to be our team's spinner.

I cannot wait for the World Cup to start, to be honest. Got so bored of some meaningless series which have no context that I`m so waiting really eagerly for the SL tour to end. From then on, it`ll be Ind-Aus, India-NZ, and then the 2 really big challenges, the tour to SA and then the World Cup at home. So, basically, this tri series in SL is the last of the boring series for us Indian fans.

completely agree there, I've stopped watching ODI's from some time due to these boring series and I just don't watch T20 except KFC cup and IPL.

I really hope the West Indies selectors pay attention to what Baugh did in the Caribbean T20 and what Ramdin didn't do. I also hope that they take someone like Dave Mohammed or Devendra Bishoo over Miller but I don't see that happening. They might take a pace bowler over someone like Dowlin and Andre Fletcher might also be included.

There is no shortage of Pakistani quicks, Akhtar is a very backwards step and its not as if he has looked threatening the last few times he played.

Muhammad Sami and Hafeez are the most pathetic cricketers to have played for Pakistan. I sincerely hope these two are not considered for the event at all. I also hope Kamran Akmal is somehow gets dropped. An injury will be the best bet :upray

I am assuming its a fifteen man squad. Notable omission is Moyo. He will be 37 next year and will not be very effective. He will be liability in the field as well.

Well here's the Pakistan squad for the England ODIs and it includes both Akhtar and Fawad Alam...

And it's been pretty obvious to me that Mohammad Yousuf and Shoaib Malik can't be in the same team. They caused ripples on the Australian tour last summer and as soon as Yousuf came back for the 3rd Test v England, Malik got dropped. Same for this ODI squad.

If I were picking the Pak squad I'd go somewhere between what you guys went and what the selectors have named:
Batsmen (5): Salman Butt, Umar Akmal, Fawad Alam, Mohammad Yousuf, Mohammad Hafeez
Keeper (1): Kamran Akmal
Quicks(5): Wahab Riaz, Abdul Razzaq, Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul, Mohammad Amir
Spinners(2): Shahid Afridi, Saeed Ajmal
I've only picked 13 there, the last 2 spots would be a fight between Shoaib Akhtar, Asad Shafiq and Abdur Rehman depending on what area Pakistan think they need more depth in.
