Pitch & Weather Report
Weather Conditions: The weather is perfect to play cricket in Colombo today. As it's an afternoon game, the temperature in the early 30s but there is some cool sea breeze blowing which will help the ball swing in the early overs. No chances of rain today, so we will get a complete game of cricket.
Pitch Report: This is going to be hunting grounds for runs by the batsmen. The pitch is hard and will help the batsman a lot with even bounce. There will be some swing for the faster bowlers early on thanks to the breeze blowing, but still its going to be very hard for the bowlers. High scores might be chasable for the team batting second. But it is better to bat first, set a big target and put the team batting second under pressure.
Toss: Canada skipper Jimmy Hansra won the toss and elected to bowl first. That's a surprising decision but we will have to wait and see if it's the right one.
Canada go with same opening pair of Hiral Patel and Nitish Kumar, who have scored huge runs during the recently concluded Caribbean T20 tournament. Which means John Davison will come in at number three. Otherwise the Canadian team is more or less as expected.
For the Dutch, Michael Swart will open the batting along with Eric Szwarczynski, as Stephan Myburgh got injured just before the tournament. Ryan den Toeschate comes back into the side after being rested during Caribbean T20 tournament.

Skipper Jimmy Hansra was the next man in and he played a small cameo of 24 runs before he was caught and bowled by Westdijk. Two balls following the dismissal of the skipper, Zubin Surkari didn?t time the cover drive properly and gave a simple catch to ten Doeschate at covers. He was followed back to the pavilion the very next ball by keeper Hamza Tariq as he was caught in the deep by Borren of Berend Westdijk's bowling. The Reds managed to score 136 for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs with John Davison top scoring with 43 of 42 balls.
A pathetic lower order collapse from the Canadians has left them atleast 20 runs short. Should be an easy win for the Dutch now. Go Tendo, own them up!
Canada threw the steady start away. Had their middle order played well, they'd have at least 15 more runs and that could well be the difference. Anyways hope that Dutch qualify
Netherlands always had the upper hand in that match. Just as Haari said, the Canadians were almost 20 runs short due to that collapse. Good presentation, KIU.
