2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup - India (UAE/Oman)

Good that we're in the Semis and there were a few positives, middle order got more time in the middle but it was concerning just how easily Wood was put to the sword in particular. At his pace he can go around the park sometimes.

I don't think we'll be particularly concerned who we get in the semis. To a point T20 is a bit of a lottery and any of the remaining teams can beat any other if it's their day. I don't think anyone will be wanting to play us though, even though we're missing 3 of our best players.

I would expect Bairstow to move up to open with Buttler and Billings to come into the middle order. He's a gun fielder too which helps.

I'd line up like this for the Semis...

Buttler
Bairstow
Malan
Billings
Morgan
Livingstone
Ali (floater)
Woakes
Jordan
Wood
Rashid

I even toyed with the idea of Ali/Malan opening just for the right/left hand combo at the top but probably best to not change too much at this stage.

South Africa will blow it all up again shortly. No doubt.

I must say, South Africa and Sri Lanka look like the most improved sides. I think next year could be quite competitive, particularly if the pitches and conditions are more balanced.
Whisper it quietly, but Bavuma’s done an excellent job leading the side despite being in terrible form with the bat.

So cricket moving back to TOP 8 teams with this?
*Afghanistan replacing WI.

Although bowling Markram today was baffling, right when SA had a small opening.

I've not seen anything to suggest he isn't a good captain. He seems very level headed like a Dhoni or Morgan type. Both of them showed you don't have to be in the best form with the bat to get your team to finals in the IPL. Also, the rare example of a player with domestic captaincy success getting a chance rather than just picking a player with experience or the best player.

I want to give my cents on both games today. First of all, what a fight put up by South Africa, they defeated the Top and Hot favorite team of this World Cup, however it was too late but South Africa played really well and fought like champions. It has been like this with South Africa since ages. They have always been unlucky somehow in ICC tournaments. It all started way back in 1992 World Cup when due to a strange calculation still unknown, they have been asked to score 22 runs in 1 ball. Today, they played really well but fell just short to qualify for the Semis but that is the beauty of this game as well what matter is that you show Intent and fight hard.

On the other hand, the way West Indies played the game today against Australia was bit shameful for the game of Cricket. It felt like that it was a party farewell match for Gayle and DJ Bravo, your team is loosing and you are there dancing and laughing out like anything. Had West Indies showed up some fight things could have been different today for South Africa. I was just listening to South African Cricketer Imran Tahir who said that what Windies did do was disrespectful for this game.

If we talk about entire matches of Windies in this World T20, the most onus of this heavy defeat goes to Gayle and DJ Bravo. They are long gone and was just a huge burden on this side, the reflexes were gone as well as performance and both are responsible for West Indies exit from this World Cup. Poor show.

The World Cup has entered into an interesting stage though. For Tomorrow's game, NZ is favorite to beat Afghans but you never know what's gonna happen and we are having great Semi Finals already.

Bit stupid when it's based on rankings and not the finish of this tournament. Bangladesh playing on crap pitches to bilateral matches and then getting thrashed by everyone.
Top 8(Group 1's Top 4 and Group 2's Top 4) would have more sense. Though WI still would have been playing the qualifiers, SL deserved to be automatically qualified.

England
New Zealand/India
South Africa
Afghanistan
Q1
Q2

Pakistan
Australia
New Zealand/India
Sri Lanka
Q1
Q2

This would have been the best allocation of groups.

It was not a good draw of the Group. One Group has having three Rookie Sides while the other Group was full of Top teams including Bangladesh, its the other thing that Bangladesh disappointed big time in this WC. Pakistan and India Group was fairly easy with open margin to make defeats and improve NRR unlike the other Group.

So today is the day India is 90% likely to get knocked out. 10% to Afghanistan.

Will be disappointing as a fan but did like the way India approached their 3rd and 4th games. If only we were in the zone in at least 1 of the first 2 matches....

Nonetheless, should NZ go through, it would be a deserving spot. India did no favors by playing the way they did and will rightly bow out of the tournament. It will also hurt knowing that it's NZ once again who will break a billion hopes. They seem to be getting into that habit quite often :noway

Either way or... There is a paytm trophy against the NZ follows after the wc... Should have some cheer after whitewashing them... :lol
