?

I don't think Pretorious comes under players of colour.
It was sarcasm that SA has a quota system to play a player like this in the XI and keep a good one out.

To me this time however, it seems like reverse Quota system.

Phehluwayo who is a player of colour, is out of the squad while Pretorious is in :facepalm
Personally, I like Phehlukwayo more.

Whatever you just said is the exact thing I mocked in the OG post but in a subtle way

South African management needs to seriously change their mindset. Their bar has been going down constantly since the last few years.

So the point is Group B is tougher than Group A unlike what people say?
The theory is because there is stronger teams in Group A it might mean teams share out victories, so losing isn't as big a disadvantage. So India, Pakistan and NZ would be expected to beat the other three teams so their head to heads could be the difference between qualifying.

That made me ponder the question, should we only rely on NRR in case of same points?

Should we introduce bonus points for a huge win in ICC events?

I don't really like bonus points, particularly in cricket where the pitch or stadium can play a big part. And I don't know how it would work if there's an abandoned match. They wouldn't just split the points but they'd miss out on the chance to make bonus points.

I don't like NRR either though. The system they use in the Ranji trophy and possibly the Sheffield Shield (that I can't remember the name of) is perhaps better.

What about bounday count. Oh wait, that didn't go well.

Yesterday England would miss out on half their innings to score more boundaries cause they bowled out the opposition easily.

I think something that encourages more attacking cricket would be good. Balls per boundary/six would be one option. NRR's effect usually seems to be teams batting out a second innings slowly to make sure the NRR isn't impacted. So a match just fizzles out. You don't always have a situation like yesterday where England can just go for it.

Right then India vs Pak.

I've an eerie feeling that it's gonna be Pakistan's day.
