2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup - India (UAE/Oman)

The most entertaining action that I watched today............... was the last 16-20 pages of this thread!!! :D Memes, GIFs, barbs, trolls.... EVERYTHING!!

Coming to the match, I agree with @LiveLoveABD that the streak had to end one day and its good that it ends now so that we can move on from it. The dew played a massive factor in this game, but good teams find their ways around the dew whereas this Indian team didn't have the answers for it. Hardik Pandya is just not in his elements and the captain says that he is not fit enough to bowl yet and even then, Hardik is selected. And on top of it, Hardik is pushed down to take charge of the final blast when Jadeja the gun man of the final 2 overs is moved up and he perishes! When he plays for CSK, Jadeja has a very clear role of playing himself in until the final 2 overs where he has all the license to go berserk. And this formula has almost always worked for CSK and Jadeja.

Bhuvneshwar has been out of sorts and he is being picked on some rare good game that he had, when his overall trend in recent times has been to 'blow cold'. He is just not that guy anymore. On the contrary, Shardul has been the 'golden arm' bowler and even if he leaks runs, he gets wickets by the bucketfuls and his utility with the bat at the end was missed today!

This group could be a "mini tri series" where Pakistan, India and New Zealand move ahead based on the results of the games between themselves, barring a miracle of epic proportions. I know there is Rashid and Nabi on Afghan side, but still these 3 teams should get past them. India does not have a good ICC events record against New Zealand and that'll be a do or die match. It would be hilarious if India lose it and India gets knocked out early in this tournament. :D There is already blood bath on social media today between Kohli, Dhoni and Rohit fans. That'll intensify a 1000x if India exits early!

I will post my thoughts tomorrow. But a big big hug to my Pakistani posters here. I could not be more happy for a cricket team and it's fans. Well deserved!
Thank you and good to see the players respecting each other, Come on BCCI enough is enough and lets see a India vs Pakistan series now.

Come on Pakistan beat New Zealand now please

Congratulations Team Pakistan :) This was a power-show by the Team Green right from the start. I believe Shaheen had set the mood straight-away. Most importantly, Pakistan was playing with a huge passion. The team looked so united. They had nothing to lose infact while more pressure was on Indian team from their fans and media platforms high expectations. I do not think that the due factor played a massive role here. Pakistan's bowling line up did not allow the Indian batters at all to openly play shots. Let's accept this, Pakistan's bowling line was Superb and totally outplayed entire batting-line up. Virat played well but he could not get the chance to play his aggressive shots due to the fall of wickets from the other side on a consistent basis as well as some really tight bowling from the Pakistan's side.

I would highly appreciate Babar Azam's captaincy here. What a great decisions he took on the field as far as bowling changes were concerned. Smart captaincy. The fielding was electrifying and Babar Azam's calmness on the field played a huge role towards this massive victory as well.

Coming to the batting side, It was a powerhouse show. I will give greater credit to Rizwan here as his aggressive shots ease the pressure on Babar Azam but Babar showed his class where-ever he got the opportunities. Babar lead from the front and gave a match-winning performance. He stood there and finished the business. It was all Pakistan show. As Indian captain Virat himself said that Pakistan outplayed us in all departments literally.

On a final note, Yes the streak had to end someday but trust us, the Pakistani fans were not expecting that their team will end the Streak in such a brutal way on the ground with 10 wickets in hand. The team green has really made us proud and gave us a lot to cheer for.

A few days back, I posted here that Pakistan is coming hard for India in this venue. This is our second home and team was eager to perform well. I believe Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar and all greats of the game from the Pakistan's side predicted this somehow that a Win is around the corner.

Gutted I couldnt share my joy here today. Havent had much to be thankful the last couple years following Indian cricket but today was one of the best days for me as a fan of cricket.

The streak that you were so proud of is now broken.

Karma.

Glad you have found some rare happiness in today's times, mate! Enjoy! A small humble tip - dont go around this forum posting messages on people's public profile page in this forum saying "The curse is broken.... etc etc" (like you just did on my public profile in this forum). Needling folks might give you a temporary rush of dopamine, but those dont last long. Cheers!

A clinical performance by Pakistan! Absolutely magnificent. They had all bases covered and rarely put a foot out of line here.

To my fellow Indians- A defeat shouldn't hurt This had to happen someday. It is not the defeat, it is the mannerism of defeat that doesn't sit well with us

That said, the road ahead is tough for India and am not ruling out a first round exit. If it does happen- good, cause then there will be strategic evaluation at all levels in Indian cricket. This is very much required, especially if the country produces shambolic displays like the one seen yesterday.

Retractors may point out and say- this is the way India begins a World Cup. The question here is -WHY? The reasons of acclimatizing to the conditions sound ridiculous given that the players stayed in the UAE and played there almost for a month. If it is a question of fatigue, then the role of Nick Webb and the physio does come into consideration here.

Well, my pick - has and will still remain- NZ and Pak from this group- India to go home soon! Expect a loss vs NZ for sure, followed by an upset against Scotland/Afghanistan.

Btw, there's a saying- People on notice period do not really work for the betterment of the organization! This seems evident given that the Captain, Coaches and Trainers are all due to leave upon the conclusion of this tournament :p

What an EPIC way to lose really

You literally cannot blame anything in particular, because everything was a disaster - the batting, the bowling, the team selection, the captaincy

And this will be an interesting experience for us: we usually steamroll through the group phase and come up a cropper in knockouts. Let's see if we recover from such a massive loss or sink further.
