Which one apart from Champions Trophy 2017?
2006 U-19 World Cup Final.
They defended 109, thanks to the wild banana swingers of Anwar Ali. India had the likes of Pujara, Rohit and Jadeja in the team then.
Which one apart from Champions Trophy 2017?
Already happened few months agoRizwan to lead his domestic team to victory.
Not saying it since they beat India. I have been following him since South Africa tour earlier this year. Most of his decisions under pressure situation seems to be spot on! Plus he looks very calm unlike Sarfaraz who loses his cool early. I felt Sarfaraz was a good Captain at best but not better than that.I had the same feeling when Sarfaraz lifted the ICC CT.
As far as I know Jadeja did not play that timeJadeja in the team then.
In Middle east Regardless of venue batting First is never easy, Form is very important in Twenty 20, hope india not lose vs NZ otherwise i can only see NZ vs Pak semiEveryone knew the dew factor would be in. India should have better acclimatized themselves as they had a month long IPL there. Either we are too tired or we simply couldn't acclimatize.
Bombay base/lobby- Tired of hearing this word.
Would you drop Rohit? Yes, he didn't do well. And I agree that the rest screwed up too. In essence, the selection was horrible from the beginning- SKY and Hardik have been out of form and shouldnt have been taken to the main event.
Would it have made a difference? In my opinion, NO! KLR would still have played a selfish knock. Highly unlikely that he was going to thrash a 30 ball 100 propelling India to 251 instead. In all fairness, Pakistan outplayed us. A total of 220 too, wasn't safe here.
India not Good at t20 cricket, they all know this Fact. Only Indian Media makes it big news. I am Afraid we will be also beaten by NZ if bats firstOh boy! I had a feeling it would be Pakistan's day but this is something else. A 10-wicket win is unheard of in Ind-Pak matches.
India did recover well to be fair. From 30-3 to 150 is commendable, and I thought it would be just enough but credit due where due. Excellent batting display that from the openers.
I'm also glad this marks the end of the mauka mauka crap. It was getting on my nerves and was no longer fun.
One ray of hope I have is that this Indian team has had a history of coming back strongly after a disappointing outing. So I'll be clinging onto that.
Team selection - From memory, Ashwin hasn't had a very good T20 record, so I'm not entirely sure if he should play. If it comes down to only 1 spot, I would go with Chahal instead of Ashwin. But Shardul is a must in my opinion. He seems to possess the golden arm that more often than not picks up crucial wickets at any given stage of the match.
Bhuvi is past his prime. He is being picked purely on reputation. It's very unfortunate because he was exceptional during his prime days. But the sooner Kohli and Co. realize that the better.
I will still stick with Pandya (bowling or not). When he gets going, there's not many in the world who could match him.
India won all 5 (2 super overs) t20i matches the last time they toured NZ (2020). You're mixing up with the 2019 Tour.India not Good at t20 cricket, they all know this Fact. Only Indian Media makes it big news. I am Afraid we will be also beaten by NZ if bats first
Our last tour there we lost t20I series. Even WT20 in Middle East, NZ have more Adventage vs Dhawan (551 in IPL)less india.
I think the end of the match when Virat Kohli congratulated Babar and Rizwan, won my heart.
The format is fickle and is more prone to upsets than any other. A couple of good overs for either side, is all it takes to assert domination. Based on India's mental state, NZ will be tough to beat.India won all 5 (2 super overs) t20i matches the last time they toured NZ (2020). You're mixing up with the 2019 Tour.
Is any knock that isn't scored above a strike rate of 140 automatically a selfish knock for you?I agree with most of the points raised by @LiveLoveABD ,expect the Kohli bit. In my opinion, Kohli played a pretty selfish knock. Yes, wickets were falling on the other end, at regular intervals- however, the Indian captain seemed intent upon batting it out. There was the MSD-esque tendency to bat deep and attack at the very end. A tactic, that India has regularly failed at. Knowing full well that there weren't many hitters to follow, Kohli ought to have accelerated throughout the innings.
Another pointer for me was the elevation of Ravindra Jadeja- Jaddu came in, in over #13. Did little to increase the run flow. An out of form Hardik should have been sent up the order and given a free license to swing at everything. Well, so much for strategizing from my arm-chair. Unless India gets it acts right vs NZ, am afraid we are staring at an early exit here.
By contrast, the other group will have more close contests and the top 2 from that, wont probably be decided until the very end.
