India have to beat New Zealand regardless, so I think a NZ win would probably be best for India. If NZ beat Pakistan that means a three way tie would be likely, if you assume the other group games the big three play go in their favour. India play the last group game so they'd know what they need to do in terms of NRR and would have two teams they would finish on the same points.Actually a Pakistan loss here would make matters difficult for India. In the event that both India and Pakistan end up on the same number of points, Pakistan, by virtue of that win, would go through.
I get your viewpoint. I don't know, maybe because it was Indo-Pak in current times, just felt special. I am sure the players themselves don't see it as a big deal. It's just a point of view as a viewer.India has never vented out its frustration on the opposition players after a game. Even if the game weren't in our favour, we have always adhered to being amicable in the aftermath. (including Sydney 2008).
Hyping up this and terning it as 'special' in the context of the political situation between the countries isn't justified. As I mentioned previously, the players aren't out there trying to kill each other.
The media starts treating these games/moments as extraordinary, when they are not. Previously Pakistani and Indians have commentated together in many matches-no one hypes up those moments. Aleem Dar officiated many India games, spoke with the players-no one brings this up. So, why highlight a mere small talk between players at the conclusion of the game?
I would also point that the media is super obsessed with Kohli and Dhoni. At the end of the WTC Final, Kohli's hugging of Kane was also snowballed into an act of 'brotherhood'. It's really unnecessary.

I am sure Star has a follow up to that ad. They had follow ups for each game that India played at CWC 2015.
No offence to anyone, but I am supporting NZ, coz it's my third favourite team (after India and WI, who have lost comprehensively). Plus, as waste says, it'll open up the group and make it more fun.India have to beat New Zealand regardless, so I think a NZ win would probably be best for India. Afghanistan have a big big upset to make in this group. They defeated WI in WC 2016, the eventual winners of the Tournament. Plus had a chance to win against both India and Pak in 2019 ODI WC. Plus Asia Cup tie against India.I am with you on the NZ bit- my favourite team to support!
That said, can't help but feel that we all are grossly underestimating Afghanistan on these tracks. They have changed the way they play and have followed a much more aggressive template of play here. It was evident in the game versus Scotland and I fear this may spirit them towards a win or two in the upcoming matches. Well, an open group will always be better.
Totally right about the NRR. That's an insane NRR they have.@DAP is right about Afghanistan. One upset and they might just be on their way to the Final 4! Remember they have insanely superior NRR here.
We're totally capable of losing by 10 wickets todaySo if Pakistan wins the next 2 games Today and on Friday vs Afghanistan they will most likely qualify.
And if India loses to NZ on Sunday they will be in serious trouble & get possibly knocked out.
Well what a crazy week this will be if it happens.
Double Delight for the Pak Fans & double cry for the Indians .
We are up for a worser scenario of steam rolling oppositions to get in the knockouts only to lose terribly in the knockout match. So if Pakistan wins the next 2 games Today and on Friday vs Afghanistan they will most likely qualify.
