2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup - India (UAE/Oman)

Good grief, that was comprehensive. Proper rabbit in the headlights stuff from Scotland, but those were some very bright headlights from Mujeeb and Rashid. Very trigger happy umpiring, got the impression that sometimes the Scots were almost being given out for their shots
Thought the same about the umpiring. Very generous.

I am so surprised to have just begin to discuss normal cricket on PC Forums (I am normally here just for the games). As far as the matches go, I am just following the scores. Don't feel like watching.

Welcome here DAP.

The discussion forum is quite entertaining to be honest you will get some great insights about the game , healthy discussions , few funny posts and a lot of Reverse Jinxing.

I know you're quite vocal in the cricket video games for years & you'll enjoy your time here. :yes

Kumar Dhamansena loves a sweep and reverse sweep, his finger gets very excited. Got to say I was impressed with Mujeeb and Rashid - it will be interesting if they have similar success against perhaps stronger opposition (sorry Scots, they’ve been brilliant so far)!

@DAP meet @Bigby Wolf -- the master of Reverse Jinxing! He is Obi Wan Kenobi of jinkxing!

Well, after a disappointing loss for me, it was good to see this because after the game is over there should be no left over emotions. Not about winning the heart, but being graceful in win or loss.
Yes, but it’s special in this context, given the off-the-field relationship between the two countries.

India has never vented out its frustration on the opposition players after a game. Even if the game weren't in our favour, we have always adhered to being amicable in the aftermath. (including Sydney 2008).

Hyping up this and terning it as 'special' in the context of the political situation between the countries isn't justified. As I mentioned previously, the players aren't out there trying to kill each other.

The media starts treating these games/moments as extraordinary, when they are not. Previously Pakistani and Indians have commentated together in many matches-no one hypes up those moments. Aleem Dar officiated many India games, spoke with the players-no one brings this up. So, why highlight a mere small talk between players at the conclusion of the game?

I would also point that the media is super obsessed with Kohli and Dhoni. At the end of the WTC Final, Kohli's hugging of Kane was also snowballed into an act of 'brotherhood'. It's really unnecessary.

Don’t underestimate Star Sports, they’ll make another one in 2023 with the excuse that we haven’t beaten you in ODI World Cups yet :p
I am sure Star has a follow up to that ad. They had follow ups for each game that India played at CWC 2015.

When did it first start? I believe when Sachin Tendular said this that its 4th in a row in world cups during his Man of the Match ceremony back in 2003 World Cup. Obviously, he is not responsible for today's such ads by Star-Sports or any other channel. I am just recalling my memory when a great player said this publically so media platforms were bound to notice and pick this up. Anyhow, Jinx has been broken and that too with absolute smashing. It will be broken in the ODIs World Cups as well.

I suppose the frustration 1996 semi final was during the game not after.

Edit.

I should say, the treatment of Shami is shameful. But it's not exclusive to India and it's a minority of pricks. We have them too, as we find out when the football teams lose.

Frustration from the crowd is an entirely different matter. You are messing up two different things here. Player venting out on each other is unheard of (except, in the case of matches involving Bangladesh). Furthermore, players hugging each other isn't really going to douse the fires started by the crowd.

CWC1996 semi-final, the crowd went bonkers, set the stadium on fire, as India was losing. I remember a few games when the Pakistani crowd did a similar thing causing the game to be delayed.
