2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup - Australia

That’s it for Hong Kong.

Hong Kong!

Tough times for these guys, especially given the fact that they couldn't practice freely in their city. As a person living here, it is still difficult to embrace normal Pre-Covid life, given the paranoia that the government has created. That coupled with the frequent testing was bound to break the spirit of the Hong Kongers. (mind you, the team still has to quarantine upon their return to HKG)

This does provide a bit of context as to their performance. Cricket is indeed not the most important thing in such times. Hoping everything returns to the better for everyone there.

I was gonna say, I think it's probably the pitch. Hong Kong are second in the Challenge League, just behind Uganda. Then I saw this, another low scorer, between the two teams

Anyway, Jersey has bowled well against Zimbabwe. Got to be in with a shout of an upset.

Netherlands are the first team to qualify for T20 World Cup 2022 from Qualifier B and Zimbabwe are on their way to be the second.

PNG gave a pretty spirited fight there. So, at this moment the Dutch and Zimbabwe are through to Australia, right?

What happens to USA and PNG? Do they get another chance or is this it?

So after the qualifiers, the 2022 T20 World Cup list by Continent is

- Asia
Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, UAE, Sri Lanka

- Europe
England, Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands

- Africa
South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia

- Oceania
Australia, New Zealand

- Americas
West Indies

Just when the ODIs are on their way down, love the expansion by T20 World Cups.

ODIs will come back post this edition for sure. They are a cross between what the purists want and what the spectators crave for.

I like the expansion here, however, not a big fan of the current format.
A. It's too long and one can lose interest.
B. There will be quite a few inconsequential games played.

IMO, the format used in the first ever edition in 2007 was the best. Either that or use the one currently used for the U19 CWC. That way, the expansion has a bit of value as all teams play in the main draw as opposed to a qualifier.
