Launching a domestic T20 professional league by 2022 and submitting joint bids with Cricket West Indies to host a major ICC tournament part of objectives
Why should the team be punished for political developments out of their control? Let’s ban Rashid Khan from cricket because the Taliban took over?
It’s just been virtue signalling by teams who have cancelled tours against Afghanistan. Didn’t see anyone boycotting England or Australia when their governments were perpetuating atrocities in the Middle East.
There’s a world of difference between the hypothetical in this post of Rashid and what has been pointed out though. South Africa’s strongest cricket generation missed out on most of their prime years in international cricket due to their government.
Nobody’s asking for a ban of individual players or the team either, they would still be a team. The Afghani team receives funding that is more than nearly every associate out there and have been using said funding exclusively for one department that no other full member does AFAIK. I questioned the point of Ireland’s FM status too in the past when they had no FC structure and weren’t playing tests either while having extra funds for it that other associates didn’t get. This isn’t just a Taliban thing either as I don’t see any significant development to women’s cricket under the previous govt other than the bare minimum window dressing at the time of granting the status and them handing out central contracts to twenty five players before the Taliban takeover.

A Pakistani fan who only turns up when his side isn’t playing?
Can cricket afford to weaken the Afghanistan side by cutting off Full Member funding? Don't we have enough exclusivity already?
Apartheid didn't end because of the sporting boycotts, it was a decades-long international political campaign.
If you want consequences, just cut off the funding that is reserved for the women's side.
With that funding, you could allow the ICC to sponsor a women's side comprising of exiled cricketers on its own, whilst allowing the Afghan board to not risk the wrath of the Taliban.

And secondly, this hyprocisy of only holding some sides responsible for their governments' action needs to end.
I remember Zimbabwe being suspended due to government interference, but it's no problem when India or Pakistan do it.

I wouldn’t mind that last suggestion personally but I imagine that would ruffle some feathers in the Afghani board (which is particularly why I’m in favour of it).
Yeah, even against Pakistan he deserved to go for plenty. A more aggressive batting lineup that day would have chased that target by targeting Starc even more.
