I was one of those who believed Imam turned a corner this year after watching a few performances of his but it’s clearly not the case and not dropping him for Zaman earlier may have well cost this team a potential top four spot.

I was waiting for them to drop Iman as he was terrible. too late now for Pakistan.

I remember mentioning Bangladesh as a contender for the Final 4 prior to the start of the CWC. Porbably jinxed them pretty badly there @A.P Haux :laughter:. I did a rethink as to the factors that seem to contributed in their campaign. Feel free to chime in with your thoughts on it as well.

Reluctant Captain:
Shakib has been a reluctant captain. Yes, the entire Tamim fiasco could have been avoided just before the Asia Cup and thanks to El Papon for that. However, giving the captaincy to Shakib seemed a bit off. He didn't seem very inclined to take it on and was a mere filler. I mean, they could very have have asked any of the playing XI to go for the toss. Mushfiqur Rahim could have been a better option in this case

Opening Combinations & Batting:
They changed their line up a fair bit. Also made wholesale changes to the opening spots as well as their Top order. Dunno if they were copying what India was doing a few months ago, but this has certainly failed, barring a couple of instances involving Mehidy Miraz.

Litton, Mushfiqur and Shakib seemed to be completely at sea while playing. They weren't able to hold down their places and stick longer at the crease. Mahudullah was the lone spark in an otherwise sad campaign. The BD batting reminded me of their early 2000s.

Bowling Attack:
If you can call it that! The fizz is all but gone from Mustafizur Rehman. Shoriful seems like a kid who was fast tracked but has been unable to make a mark in the senior boys' club. Taskin has been their work horse for a long time, but was conspicuously absent this time round(not physically absent)

I think the way forward for them would be difficult given that they will be a side in transition. I genuinely do not expect Shakib, Mushfiqur, Mahumdullah, Fizz to play another World Cup. It is going to be an uphill battle since we haven't seen the likes of Hridoy grab his opportunities. I expect them to fast track their glorious kids from the U-19 batch of 2020, but guess it isn't going to be enough here.

They have already done that... Tanzid, Shoriful, Hridoy, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mrittunjoy have all made international debuts.

That is 4 out of Bangladesh's 15 men this WC, and it also means half of that U19 squad are in the international setup.

Ok, help me out here- If SRL win 2/3 games and Pak lose their remaining games, there's a possibility that they end up at No.9. What happens to the Champions Trophy in 2025 then?

They will get in their captain- he was a good bloke behind the stumps as well. Abrar/ Akbar Ali? Was it?

Top 7 and Pakistan qualify. So Pakistan's position is irrespective. If they are 9th, then top 7 qualify
