why does Bas de Leede go into bowler mode whenever ICC tournaments happen? He is miserable with the bat but he appears on the top bowling chart, yet he's actually a Batting All-rounder

Indian team to repeat the 2007 Australian team feat of winning a WC unbeaten? (I doubt anyone else did it after that??). Mighty damn good even if it’s in home conditions. Just 2 to go!
First optimistic message by an Indian about India's chances I have seen on this thread. It only took India thrashing everyone into oblivion for 9 straight games.

stat padder exposed
virat kolli against Netherland with 90 strike rate

Statpadder Netherlands exposed Pakistan again! Scored more runs then what Pakistan could against India. Shame on them.

Only two teams outside of the top 3 to beat a semi-finalist: Pakistan and Netherlands

I bet you if New Zealand wins the WC, there will be a meme/post circulating about how we beat them and the WC is technically won by Pakistan through transitive properties.

Can I put V-cash on it?

Ok, now that the group stages is over here are my ratings for the teams who did not make it to top 4.

Pakistan - 6/10

Pros

  1. Despite their tactics are old and rusty, they still stuck to it. Many teams would try to do something different in midst of the tournament and lose it all. Here Pakistan was only 1 match away from a semi spot.
  2. Rizwan's 131 against Sri Lanka was amazing, a knock that will be remembered for a long time. If Pakistan would have lost that game, the tournament would have been over sooner.
  3. As we all knew, Shaheen would be leading the attack. 18 wickets and economy under 6 is not bad given how badly others bowled.
  4. Mohammad Wasim and his bowling. 10 wickets and 5.6 economy playing only 4 matches, he should have played all matches as he looked like their best bowler by a mile.
Cons
  1. Babar Azam, his abtting and captaincy. Despite scoring 320 at an average of 40, this was an issue I have been talking about for years. He bats toooo slowly and has not next gear at all. He is the VVS and Rahul Dravid kind of India in ODI's. His cricket is one dimensional and when forced into another, he loses it quickly. His strike rate of 82 is the lowest amongst the Pakistani batsman.
  2. Babar's captaincy was horrendous most of the time.
  3. No spin bowlers on Indian surfaces. Shadab has been horrendous for a long time, Nawaz never looked good in any matches I have seen.
  4. Bad XI selection. Kept backing Shadab and Nawaz for too long. Wasim getting in for 4 matches showed why.
  5. Haris Rauf, giving 25% of total runs Pakistan had against them by just one bowler is never good. He did not learn throughout and kept bowling the same way.

Afghanistan - 6/10

Pros

  1. Great fight shown by the entire team despite have two games were oppositions thrashed them (New Zealand and Bangladesh).
  2. Solid consistent batting by all batsman. Someone stepped up each game.
  3. Better game awareness compared to Asia Cup.
  4. Good fast bowlers and not having to rely on spinners.
Cons
  1. Tactical blunders - Even though they had better game awareness, they still made few errors like batting second against New Zealand to horrendous bowling plan to Maxwell in their loss against Australia. They definitely could have eliminated New Zealand from Semi's had they not made such mistakes.
  2. Young - Not in age but in terms of exposure. This went against them as some times they had no answers which you only get by playing consistent cricket.
England - 2/10

Pros

  1. 2 back to back wins to end the tournament.
  2. Finally finding the best XI in the last two games.
Cons
  1. Had no clue what was going on.
  2. Poor captaincy
  3. Poor batting and bowling.
  4. Just did not seem interested in the cup after the first loss against Afghanistan.
Bangladesh - 1/10

Pros

  1. Mahmudullah, as usual carry the batting along with Litton Das.
Cons
  1. As usual too much pre-tournament politics.
  2. Seniors not leading from front as an average in 20's in India is not going to help the team.
  3. Bowlers not able to take wickets as collectively took 51 wickets (including run outs) out of 90 available for 9 matches.
  4. Shakib Al Hasan and his attitude.
Sri Lanka - 2/10

Pros

  1. Samarawickrama, Nissanka in batting.
  2. Madushanka in bowling.
  3. Thrashing of England, a great all round game for them.
Cons
  1. Mendis fizzing out after given the captaincy.
  2. Pathirana and his horrendous wides.
  3. Inconsistency across the board from batting to bowling
  4. Not been able to play fast cricket as was the need.
Netherlands - 6/10

Pros

  1. If someone would have told me that Netherlands would win against South Africa, I would have believed it but against Bangladesh? Wow! Just kidding.
  2. 2 wins in a world cup replacing West Indies, I would say this is a pretty successful campaign for them. I really hope they get to play with more bigger cricketing nations so that they can keep punching with the heavyweights.
  3. Engelbrecht and his batting. Scoring 300 runs and being the top run scorer for your team, a proud moment.
  4. Consistent bowling performances with 4 bowlers taking 10 or more wickets. Taking 65 wickets out of 90, more then what Bangladesh could achieve is a testament that their bowlers did well.
Cons
  1. Inconsistency but I cannot blame it on them. They need more cricket and that is the bottom line. Like Scotland, Zimbabwe, Ireland they all need more cricket.
