NZ still need to squeeze 8 more overs out of Neesham, Ravindra and Phillips. Possibly Mitchell or Chapman too

I blame absolutely no one for not wanting to sit in the scorching Sub-continent Sun for a good five hours.

I do however, enjoy this:

Some of the comments I’m seeing elsewhere on this are laughable really.

“Oh why don’t they take a holiday for a major global sporting event? We in England and Australia do that”

I remember how empty the Aussie grounds were for Australia's matches in the last T20 WC too.

I think, the only real fix for this is (a) have the host nation play the opening match and (b) maybe don't pick the biggest venue to host the opener it if it can't be filled.

Even still, I can't imagine anyone would want to sit uncovered under the Sun for 5 hours in South Asian weather. It's not even Winter yet!

A well organised tournament would know the best grounds for each match. Selling tickets is one thing but having 2/3 empty ground doesn't add to the fever.

They should have opened with an Indian match anyway.

The real fix would be to organise things better for the fans (especially the overseas ones) and make the stadium experience miles better. But of course that’s not happening anytime soon.

Yeah, one thing sitting in 35 degree heat, another to have bird poop slowly melting into your clothes.

There’s an argument of “does Ahmedabad need such a big stadium in it’s city?” which is worth asking.
