It's genuinely frustrating, baffling, and maddening to see the biggest sporting event of Pakistan end up like this for the second time in a row. The last season was unfortunate, but this season PSL got postponed due to sheer ignorance and incompetence, and not adhering to the SOPs put in place. Firstly, which expert decided to make the 3-day quarantine rule? Worldwide 7 days is the minimum with the 14 days one being the most common. Symptoms can take up to a week to show so 7-day quarantine is an obligation.

Secondly, Sammy, Wahab, and Javed Afridi set a very wrong precedent by threatening to block the league just to avoid being quarantined after breaching the bubble. PCB also allowed them, because they returned 2 negative tests before the game, which set a wrong precedent. Many players were found secretly going outside the bubble (although staying in the hotel premises), through a backdoor staircase. A Multan Sultans foreign opener was found taking a selfie with a fan, and the spa & gym of the hotel were shared with the outsiders. Players' families joined the bubble midway, with only 1 negative test and no quarantine. Islamabad United played Fawad Ahmed in a game despite him having symptoms and QG players high-fived celebrities outside the bubble. Commentators, presenters, ground staff, team owners (except the KK and LQ owners) were none a part of the bubble. So, many freaking mishaps!

And to all those blaming PCB for the debacle, please cut them some slack. They organized 240 games in the bubble so far, including PSL, PAK vs SA, PAK vs ZIM, NT20 etc, and this was the last event of the calendar for them. The real problems arose when these franchise owners and their cheap publicity stunts got involved. The PCB CEO categorically mentioned in his presser that many stakeholders were warned for the breaches.

And the biggest problem now is going to be hosting AUS (twice), ENG (thrice), WI, NZ etc in the next year or so. PCB would really need to up their game to make sure that these sides do visit after this debacle.

There are 11 players who would be unavailable. There’s plenty of quality players who were unpicked in the IPL to replace them. June and September are also being explored as possible windows.
Agree on the "colony tournament" part. The typical Pakistani attitude of not giving a shit about the rules won.

If the IPL happens in India, this could happen here as well.

They won’t have any excuse, they’ll likely be vaccinated. If not by their countries, then by the PCB, with privately acquired vaccines, as allowed by the Pakistan government.

Things are just unnecessarily hyped in our neck of the woods. A lot of very high profile sportsman have got covid mid competition. The tournament shouldn't have been postponed and if people are blackmailing it's even worse.

One thing I will say is that with the IPL the franchises are very competitive but they are very smart and sensible to realise that tearing the board's flesh into pieces to feast isn't going to help anybody. Right now, it just seems like stakeholders of the PSL are looking for ways to tear apart their own product.

It's just unprofessionalism. Nothing new related to Pak cricket and I had mentioned this in one of my earlier posts as well.

I think currently, the BCCI is enveloped in a corporate poison where you basically see bully culture and all employees and stakeholders toe the company line. Exactly the opposite in Pakistan where all hell seems to break loose everyday.

Be nice to strike a balance someday.

Psl 2021 might be resumed from 10 june and final could be on 25 june. The tournament might be resumed from june because some player's would be busy in IPL.

PSL to resume in late-May/early June in Karachi. Interestingly it clashes with the Asia Cup window confirming that there would be no Asia Cup, and even if there would be one, it would be with Pakistan C and India B sides.

One positive would be that many non-Test playing SENA, SL and WI players would be free in that window, so hopefully better quality of foreigners. Although, being this close with the IPL might hamper the chances.

Hope that the PCB doesn't mess this up, and the heat in June isn't unbearable for the players and spectators.

Some resources say the psl's remaining matches might be played in Lahore?
