5th Test: England vs Australia at the Brit Oval

Hilfy not looking too threatening right now, might be better to take him off and bring him on when the lacquer comes off.

Perfect start for Aus,they have picked up an early wicket,Eng 28/11 in 8 overs, good to see S Clark bowling now,he is a good quality bowler,Aus should try to take 1-2 quick wickets here...

So finally B Lee is not playing... (i just started my TV just now,was eager to see Lee,but anyway, finally the day has arrived,5th and final test is finally going on...)

Clark's in, 6 down within the hour.

Ya,he has that ability,we have seen him doing that in last test...He is a quality bowler...Lets hope he manages to do that one more time here...

WTF are these Aussie selectors thinking!!!!!!!

Leaving out Hauritz on a pitch thats bound to spin later in the game.

Its an interesting one with Brett Lee.

With Flintoff playing in this test match, at probably 80%, as its that important. Why isn't Brett Lee? If I was a batsmen, and the prospect of Lee, Siddle and Johnson (on form), and the usual control of Hilfanhaus, I'd be packing up and saying, "you know what skip, replace me." I just wouldn't trust myself against that attack, with this pressure!

No proper spinner playing? Might just be ball dropped there. Although Clarke can bowl some decent SLA.

It had only been 6 overs and rough patches appeared, the selectors probably thought the part timers were enough considering their performance during their last tour game. Still, it's a 50/50 option. A 4 pronged pace attack that tore through the English XI or 3 pacers and 1 spinner, taking into account the 2-3 part time spinners and that other medium pacer.

Australia don't need a spinner when their 4 seamers are good enough to bowl us out cheaply every time anyway.

TBF it did start before then, Bopara anyone?

Bopara was still looked upon favourably whilst KP was in the side. He had scored 3 hundreds in succession, albeit against West Indies and it was seen as a matter of time until he made some runs against Australia. Turned out after 2 more Tests that he simply isn't good enough for #3 at the moment. The key moment for England's batting going downhill was Pietersen missing out and requiring further surgery.
