Pakistan 'A' squad for the Test Series Against New Zealand 'A' announced!
Aamir, Asif and Butt Suspended!!

Today Mr.Muttahhar Dar,Chairman of PCB along with the selectors announced the 15-men Pakistan 'A' squad for the Test series against New Zealand 'A'.
But the bigger news is that, the star players Asif,Aamir and Butt who are alleged of Match-Fixing have been suspended. The chairman said that the players won't be able to represent the country in any format of the game until and unless they are proved innocent. These players were accused to be involved in fancy-fixing in the recent series against South Africa 'A' which Pakistan won 2-0.Hammad Azam,Azeem Ghumman and Adbul Razzaq Fawad Alam have been included in the squad as their replacements.
When asked,Muttahhar Dar said that we are not in situation to say whether these players were involved in such a shameful act or not but if they are proven guilty in such an act which embarrassed the whole nation, the players will face harsh punishments.
He made it clear that the players aren't banned but suspended until the investigation gets complete.

The squad is as follows:
Batsmen:
Misbah-ul-Haq (c)
Imran Nair
Hammad Azam
Khurram Manzoor
Faisal Iqbal

Allrounders:

Fawad Alam
Abdul Razzaq

Wicket-Keeper:

I would have thought that Abdul Razzaq was more eligible than Saeed Ajmal. Razzaq isn't anywhere near the Test side but Ajmal is now their no.1 spinner..

But Razzaq is still more experienced, and the 'A' side is for less experienced players or 'out of cricket for a long time' players.

Decided to go with two spinners as they'll be handy at the incredibly slow pitch at Lauderhill.

Not necessarily. the A sides are the second XI for the International side. With Ajmal was playing in the most recent series and Razzaq not even in the squad, I don't see how Ajmal can play for the A side, but Razzaq can't. imo it should be the other way around.

Which of these makes more sense - Ishant Sharma/Rohit SHarma/Dinesh Karthick playing in the 'A' squad or Zaheer Khan playing in the 'A' squad? Zaheer too hasn't played for a while now.

Depends which formats, but I would let Rohit, Dinesh and Zaheer play A, not Sharma though because he's a bit of a regular.

you need to have some sort of a line in the sand as to who should & should'nt be in the squad, and varun done's a great job on that.

and varun's judgement calls can differ greatly too other's opinions.

That's all I'm saying, to just have a match cap on players can be exploited easily. Dale Steyn can play OD matches for South Africa A according to the rules..and Samaraweera, who hasn't even played a T20I can't be selected in my T20 A squad, but Angelo Mathews can?

Nice point that one. I'll work on that in the next season. If lineups come timely, the season will be over in a week's time.

The new rating system

Since the ratings are pretty much settled now, I would like to introduce the new rating system, which makes the concept of change of rating after a match, more distinguished and fair (I must say.)

Please read the content after this one very very carefully so that it just sticks inside your head.

1.) In case of a win against a higher ranked opponent -

Difference in ratings |Points won
0-1|1
1-5|2
5-10|2.5
10-15|3
15-20|4
20+|5

2.) In case of win against a lower ranked opponent -

Difference in ratings |Points won
0-1|1
1-5|2
5-10|2
10-15|1.5
15-20|1.5
20+|1

3.) In case of loss against a higher ranked opponent -

Difference in ratings |Points lost
0-1|1
1-5|2
5-10|2
10-15|1.5
15-20|1.5
20+|1

4.) In case of loss against a lower ranked opponent -

Difference in ratings |Points lost
0-1|1
1-5|2
5-10|2
10-15|2.5
15-20|3.5
20+|4

5.) Additional points -

Series win -

Rank of loser before start of series| Points won
> winner's rank| 2
< winner's rank| 3

Series loss -

Rank of winner before start of series| Points lost
> loser's rank| 2
< loser's rank| 1

*In case of tie, both teams win +1 regarless of ratings/rankings.
*In case of a Test draw, both teams win +1 regardless of ratings/rankings.

Bonus points -

If a team beats another win it's run-rate being 1.25 the run-rate of the losing team, then +1 to winning team and -1 to losing team additionally.

If a player scores 150+ in a 50-over match, 100+ in a T20 match and 250+ in Test match (combining both innings), then +1 to the team for each player who does it.

If a player takes 6+ wickets in 50-over match, 5+ wicked in a T20 match and 10+ wickets in a Test match, then +1 to the team for each player who does it.

This rating will be applied from the 1st ODI between England Lions and India A.
And no matches will be posted today as I want all managers to read this before their matches are posted.
