What will Balaji achieve with Everton?

Since Vampeta was signed as a backup player, it makes sense to play Maniche on the right today.

All the best and I predict a 2-0 home win.

Previous Day results

Chelsea and Arsenal have handed drubbings in their respective matches setting the tone for the rest of the season.

Fulham continued their impressive start by mauling Villa. Liverpool and Birmingham played a 5 goal thriller in which Liverpool got through.

The supposed relegation 6 - pointer was settled with a 6 - goal draw.

And the shock - Blackburn defeated Manchester United at Old Trafford

Wow,thats one wierd league table,Liverpool in 10th and ManU in 17th with Fulham on top, quite amazing even though its just the start of the season. As for your game against West Brom, should be easy enough especially at home,Id go with a 1-0 victory for the blues, youd better take these points as youre going to struggle against the other teams. :p

Three London clubs on top, and the top two being West London clubs!

Good to see Manure lose to their rivals and at home. Blackburn I thought would have been disappointed with a draw at home last weekend, but have more than made up for it this weekend.

Cahill injury mars another dull affair

scoredu7.jpg

Ain't I frustrated! Another goal less affair. We still are to score our first goal in the Premiership this season. And top it all, Tim Cahill is injured.

Gaardsoe's pathetic tackle took out Cahill in the 10th minute and immediately I was forced to bring in Phil Neville.

[10 Minutes]

As usual we were let down by our accuracy levels as we could get just 3 f the 13 shots, on target. Also we really have to look into our crossing as we couldn't complete even a single one.

Daniel Carvalho put a great show in the Attacking Midfielder role as he jinxed his way in and out of the defenders and unleashed a thunderbolt that just bounced off the upright!

The other debutant, Maniche was decent enough today. I pulled out Arteta in the 62nd minute and sent in James Vaughan.

On the entry of Vaughan, I switched to a diamond formation and asked the boys to hit a few long balls. Beattie latched on to one in the 70th minute and hit a ferocious drive that was just tipped away by Kirkland.

2 Minutes later, I pulled of Joseph Yobo, who was struggling with a niggle and sent in Umit Davalla.

No further action occurred as we settled out on a tame draw.

I spoke of my disappointment to the boys, but hey its just the second game of the season. My major worry was the news on the extent of Cahill's injury.

Cahill injured as Toffees held to a goalless draw

Tim Cahill was injured after being struck on his knee by a delayed challenge from West Brom's Tomas Gaardsoe. Cahill limped off the field in the 10th minute. Everton were held to a goalless draw second weekend running, as West Brom put on a brave defensive game to come out of Goodison Park with a point.

This match was eagerly expected as the pre match spat between the two managers Bryan Robson and Ramesh Balaji had taken centre stage. New Everton manager launched a scathing remark last week on Robson and the tension was at an all time high between the two teams.

Cahill had latched on to a fine pass from Yobo, when Gaardsoe flung in his right boot straight on the australian midfielder's knee. Everton had fielded their two new signings - Maniche and Daniel Carvalho. Maniche played a decent game around but it was the Brazilian Daniel Carvalho who stole the show with a spectacular performance. His man of the match award was rightly deserved as Balaji has unleashed what could be a dangerous weapon in the Premiership.

Daniel Carvalho - An excellent debut

Carvalho had the best opportunity of the night when he unleashed an unstoppable drive from the edge of the box, only for the ball to rebound of the upright. Everton manager Balaji let James Vaughan off the hook after the hour's mark as the Toffeemen looked intent on scoring their first premiership goal of the season. But they were denied by some brave defending by the Baggies defenders.

Both sides struggled upfront and this was met by frustrating groans as the home side wasted several goal scoring opportunities. And the match ended a drab 0 - 0 draw.

West Brom Manager Bryan Robson was quick on poking a jab at his opposite number.

"We had a good game tonight. We were quite unlucky not to score a goal and hand a debut home defeat to Balaji. Zoltan was brilliant tonight. As from what I see of Everton, I guess it would be a miracle if they escape relegation this season."
Everton Assistant Manager Alan Irvine addressed the media on the absence of Balaji.

"Yes it is disappointing that we were held goal less. But we have a lot of positives from the game. Daniel, Maniche, Yobo and Onyewu were terrific. We should have won this but there is always next week"
Tim Cahill has been sidelined with a knee injury for nearly three weeks, Everton physio Mike Rathbone confirmed.
"Tim has taken a nasty crack on his knee and that has mildly damaged a few ligaments. Though the damage is not severe, we expect Tim to be out of action for around 3 weeks"
This news would be a great blow to Everton's plans as the wily Australian has been used as a midfield lynchpin by Balaji.

Everton host Scttish Champions Celtic in the second leg of the UEFA Champion's League qualifier. Celtic will have to win by atleast two goals to proceed further in the competition.

Unfortunate result there should have really got more out of the game!
Cahill is a big blow for you but you must keep your heads up and look to the future :)

great presentation Bala reps 4 u mate :D

Crucial points dropped there which could hurt you later. But like you said, your main worry right now is the injury to Tim Cahill. It could be three really long weeks for the Merseyside blues.

Nice photoshop work by the way.

Bala, this story is truly phenomonal; Your presentation and grammar nothing short of exceptional. The fact that you manage Everton makes it even better.

Top notch stuff, keep it up.

The stats with Martin Tyler

We have had a rather bizarre weekend, with Fulham still at No 1 after two games. They carried out their demolition job of Aston Villa to perfection. Chelsea sounded another warning with a 5 - 0 thrashing of the hapless Manchester City.

To me the match of the week was Blackburn vs Manchester United. The Rovers did a brilliant job of winning away at Old Trafford.

In other results Lua Lua sealed Portsmouth's win over the hammers.

Now let us take a look at the featured match - Everton vs West Bromwich Albion.

It seems Everton just can't score. Bryan Robson would be feeling a bit happy after the result. Everton's shot accuracy and crosses left them wondering again this season. But they have not yet been beaten in competitions under manager Balaji.

Everton clearly were the better of the two teams as they passed well and had more shots on target.

West Brom were marginally better in the air, but that is it. Not a great deal to talk about the stats.

Looking at the player's rating, Daniel Carvalho had a great debut today. He has explosive pace and a great left boot. That was quite evident today. He almost scored the winner only to be denied by the upright. A deserved man of the match performance.

Cahill is out like what it seems to be for three weeks. that will be quite a blow for the Toffees. Vaughan, Kilbane and Neville struggled yet again.

Clement and Watson were magnificient in the West Brom defence. Beattie was subdued again.

Everton have now scored just 1 goal in their last 5 matches and with the impending visit of the Scottish Champions Celtic, Balaji could have his plate full.

it definatly has the potential to be a long season for a team that doesnt have quite the depths of the larger 4 teams (chelsea, man u, arsenal and liverpool). You will need cahill back to give you some strength in the midfield.

When will you have information as to which striker you are signing?

Very important game, that second leg against Celtic. Carvalho had a brilliant debut, while Maniche had a good game as well. Cahill's injury makes it even more necessary to make another signing. Are you willing to pay ?5.5 million for Lukas Podolski?

I also checked out in FM, and Lukas is valued at ?10 million.

Btw whats with the jersey numbers to the new signings? 53,54,42,43?

Yeah! Carvalho is one good player. I am ready to shell out dough for a quality striker and will certainly up my advances towards Podolski.

The jersey numbers are auto assigned as the players do not have any favorite numbers. :p
