A Year on From the World Premiere

As my signature says, the game lived up to its hype. There are flaws for sure, and a few things that need to be addressed, but not something that can't be fixed over the next iteration. I have never felt more confident of getting a perfect cricket game and the support from Big Ant folks would easily put most of the bigger studios to shame.

I really need to turn my computer back on and play this thing again, I have the itch again... Which I should prolly get some cream for. I also wouldn't mind playing some DBC again either.

I put this game down about a month or so ago, frankly I was burned out with the single-player experience and the non-stop nitpicking in threads moved from insanely hilarious to frustrating and loathsome so I just bailed for a bit, longer than I planned.

I'd like to revist the online again soon, if Matt will have me back, haha. They broke it a little (IMO) with some of the recent updates so be interesting to give it crack again having some distance from it now...

Matt's review still holds up and hard to believe it's been THIS long with easily the best cricket games development journey.

Melancholy to think it'll prolly be the last anything like this happens again for the foreseeable future.

Great thread.

Generally play it every weekend against a friend. Really enjoying it even now. Doesn't feel like it's been that long.

After a long lay-off from posting on the forum, this thread has ignited the excitement I had a year ago, just yesterday was playing a T20 match after the Aussie/S.A match, it was a next to real match where I posted 138 and went on to beat the Aussies by 9 runs,,,this game is the best cricket game to date, the support it gets from the dev team is incredible,,,it's a game to be played in a long time, can't wait for patch 3 and the excitement and anxious moments of waiting for a sequel

Best Cricket Game by far

The closest there has ever been to a proper cricket simulation. A PS4 and Xbox One version is desperately needed though.

I have organised my own first class league comprising lesser known teams from around the world. First class is a lot tougher than shorter versions. You will have to want to stick around and take each ball every single time on merit. I find myself talking to myself as the bowling runs up: eye on the ball, keep the eye on the ball! I am learning to use the defensive trigger more variedly to push for those qucik singels in the gaps they leave.....Some lovely moments of the ball beating the bat or after bowling on off-stump the bowler bowls a wide one....eyes light up...nicked to slip.....The pressure is intense sometimes and when you get out to that late in-swinging yorker you find yourself nodding appreciation in the direction of the bowler......so many great cricket moments that let you forget the load of life for a bit and give a bit of fun and relaxation.....no ever cricket game has done that for me before.

I have had loads of wonderful moments. A well timed shot that beats the wide off fielder always gets me smiling on the inside. Also I have caught myself getting angry when I premeditate and then the next ball I would be telling myself watch the ball.

I've put in hundreds of hours, career mode only, and I'm still shit. But it's the only game I play - it's the only game I want to play. I keep telling myself that when I get bored I'll try out some other game modes, but it hasn't happened yet.

Great to hear. I am the opposite, I started off in career mode but now play my own four day league involving sixteen teams across the globe from Nepal to Hong Kong, the USA and France! Love it and cant think of going back to career mode. One thing we do have in common: being shit at it!

DBC turned out to be more or less exactly what I was hoping for, which was a game realistic enough to give my batting itch a good scratch. It's the first game that's ever really managed to do that, so huge thumbs up.

I've played most cricket games that have been released since International Cricket on the NES and while I think Shane Warne Cricket 99 is the most fun cricket game I've ever played DBC 14 is not far behind it and leaves other last games for dead in other areas.

It's pretty challenging and I do suck at batting and bowling but I have found that if I concentrate I can put in a good innings but a lapse in concentration and I have a batting collapse which is quite a refreshing change for a game. I can't tell you how happy I was when I discovered only slightly holding RT have a defensive push for a single, fantastic subtlety there

My only gripe with game play is spin doesn't work the way it should do and the AI could be a lot smarter in all areas. I wish that playing a defensive shot was easier as with a fast bowler there really is too little time IMO to sum up a delivery and decide on a shot or defensive shot, I find that I'm either pre-meditating a defensive shot by holding RT as the bowler comes in or pre-meditating a front foot shot by hold LS up. It's a small gripe though that one because I probably just can't react fast enough.

For me, I get a real kick out of creation and the Cricket Academy is pretty much how I would have done things, I really couldn't ask for much better for creation, first attempt or not it was brilliant. I really hope the CA is kept as it is but with a few things added.

Career mode is a brilliant first attempt and has potential to be built upon in a major way. The issues with career mode such as lineups while valid are very minor in comparison to how much else they got right and now that I know how lineups work I adjust lineups before starting a career now.

Super game and yes it's great that Ross keeps in contact with the community, really gets you feeling a little involved with Big Ant knowing that they are still keeping an eye on our thoughts and wishes of the game and it's not some EA "here's your game, that's all you're getting"

Wow. It's already been a year? Funny how once the game got in our hands time just flew by. Goes to show how good the game is. The icing on the cake has been the top notch after-sales support from the BA team. That itself has won them a customer for life :)
