Academy release 0.0.69 - discussion

What is so special about this "helicopter" shot? It's a straight slog with an unusual follow through, not sure it adds anything to the game. You could already play lofted shots in that area, the other unorthodox shots at least serve a purpose. Maybe I just don't get it... For some people this shot is probably more important than the stadium creator etc.

I'd like to see Pro cam for bowling too if possible, but I guess especially during the run-up for pace bowling there would be a lot of bobbing/movement which may not look great.

One thing that would really help me with testing out this release is some guidance from @BigAntStudios as to what they are looking for feedback on with this release versus stuff that they aren't looking for comments on because they know it isn't implemented yet.

well its actually surprising that such additions took 1.7 gb of update
but even if it was 10 gb i would have still downloaded it
can't wait for next friday

I've made this comment before somewhere but to reduce stomach-churning bobbing, Pro Cam should act more like an eyesight-emulator rather than a camera-strapped-to-your-head emulator. Eyes aren't cameras and eyesight doesn't work anything like a camera does...that's why when we run things seem smooth but if we look at footage of a camera strapped to our head, it is very jerky. I'm not sure how easy Pro Cam would be to use for bowling because it is a more complex interaction than batting...would be interesting to give it a go, however. I'm very much a fan of Pro Cam.

Pro cam
Head movement results in a lot of camera movement.

Eye cam. A gr8 idea.

Bigger adjustable moveable Sight screen needed in pro cam when batting without ball markers. This is crucial.

couldn't agree more with @Plotinus in respect of pro-cam.

it never felt "real" to me in dbc14 for precisely that reason, and the field of view. you actually see much more of yourself than the pro-cam allows you, and it makes you feel blind a bit. throw in the lack of saccadic masking and generally removing the blur/judder that we don't experience in real life and it just never did anything for me at all.

I think its more that your brain has ways of basically getting rid of the jerkiness plus your eyes will generally focus on things while you are running so you don't notice it, while a camera doesn't do that so its a lot more obvious. A bowling pro-cam would be... interesting and I think possible, but it'd probably take quite a bit of effort to get right. Its only something that certain people will play with: I can't play with the pro cam in DBC14 because it doesn't make sense to me partially because you have a limited FOV because of the monitor being a thing (and it can't be an accurate FOV since then you'd have real tunnel vision); although my awful batting IRL is probably a big factor in that.

great update thanks BA studios, just noticed one thing as in broadcast camera, with R3 as leave ball and invert batting YES, L3 acting as inverted for padding away shots as defensive shot + R3 + L3 (if L3=left then foot move to right and vice versa). i know its minor but rest of update is great once again thanks.

Beautiful player model skins and beautiful batting gameplay.

Rest assured @IceAgeComing your real life batting has no factor how good you can bat in a video game :p

Spinning broken? I am not able to turn the ball at all, rotating just gives me red circles rather than yellow and green..

You're probably rotating the left stick too early, try as late and as quick as possible.
Oh ok thanks..Thats been changed? Was happy with the way it was early though..Could vary the spin and control it as and when required..

just played an off spinner from round the wicket on legendary difficulty
and instead of bowling deliveries expected at legendary level
the bowling machine is bowling beamers which are going way outside off stump
i mean even out of the pitch
and some are going above batsmans head
fix this issue ASAP
not able to play off spin at all
out of every 6 deliveries atleast 3 deliveries are beamers and full tosses which are so wide that are not playable.

Fix your attitude ASAP.

Good time to remind everyone it's a beta. Do you have any feedback that is relevant to the changes implemented in this update?
