With very little to lose in this dead rubber clash, Ravi Shah decided to play his shots and scored a superb 102 off 109 balls. Kenya, who didn't stand much of a chance chasing a total of 323 finished respectably on 280/9 at the close. Sri Lanka underwent a collapse quite similar to England's after having started their run chase on a high with Sanath Jayasuriya and Tillakaratne Dilshan putting up 93 for the first wicket in very quick time. They had been brought down to their last man by the 47th over still needing another 22 runs for victory.
But luckily they still had Mahela Jayawardene battling on for his team, and their No 11 in Muttiah Muralitharan proved to be a more than capable bat in this situation. They prevailed by 1 wicket with an over to spare, thereby guiding Sri Lanka to a berth at the Super Sixes stage at the expense of England.
