Andy D'urso

I know there are a lot of poor referees in the Championship, there are plenty in the Premier as well. I don't know where that leaves me on the technology debate. Would like to see glaring errors corrected, but then again I quite like the human factor. A bit like cricket. Of course I won't start a thread on all of them, just this one because he is corrupt. The others are poor at their jobs, not corrupt like him.
Not corrupt surely

It's a tough job being a ref, you aren't always in the best place to see the action and lets not forget the tendency players have to try and con the ref all the bloody time these days. Errors might look glaring when you've had it replayed 5 times, at different angles and with fancy graphics added. It's a tough job and mistakes are always going to be made, doesn't mean you just accept poor ref's though. They have to be of a certain standard, but they really don't deserved all the insults, after all who would do the job better? Penguins?

Yep, the team that are in the Premiership. When the players aren't fighting, goals are being scored for both teams. Maybe supporting Norwich has made you forget what exciting football is. Anyway, anything you say gets countered by the fact that everyone in East Anglia is related ;)

Woah woah woah, slow down there sailor. Not everyone in East Anglia is related. Everyone in Norfolk is related, not East Anglia. Get it right.
;)

Suffolk has a higher rate of inbreeding than Norfolk. You know that though, Tom, so once again you are not letting facts get in the way of an insult.

While I would love it if Norwich were in the Premier (I was there when we beat Man United and Newcastle), but when it is your club, one that you support with undying passion, it doesn't matter if it is an exciting match or not. A 0-0 is a point. It is the result that matters. Although we haven't had a 0-0 for 24 games!

Lee, you might have met a bit more serious conversation had you said that he just dislikes Norwich, or just dislikes Ipswich, as he could have supported the other team. But saying he dislikes an teams from a certain area when he has no reason to, is a bit far.

I'd say there is more of a problem with two high-profile Premiership refs singing You'll Never Walk Alone at a ref's conference.

Not biased at all but those pesky Celtic supporting refs annoy me too :p
But should we expect refs not to support any team at all? Afterall they must like football. Or should we just get the penguins?

:D No, of course they're ok to be reffing, but should they really referee a Liverpool (or Celtic:p) match?

Just because the fans have taken it up doesn't really mean anything. It's just a song, and a good one at that - I think it's going too far to restrict song refs are allowed to sing.

Even having fans who officiate isn't such a bad thing. Dickie Bird was a big Yorkshire fan - didn't stop him being a fine umpire.

To suggest that he is corrupt is a pretty unfounded allegation, I've never thought of him as anything other than a fairly reasonable ref tbh.
