Ok i don't know where this thread should go so ill just post it here.

Ok i dont play club cricket i play cricket for leisure. So im not like so pro ok?

At my house i got this garage sort of thing. It has an opening at the front where i can bowl to it is like 6-10 metres wide and it has a set of stumps at the back of it. I used heaps and heaps of boxes to cover the metal around the inside of it So when i smash a cover drive it doesnt make a big dint in the metal and the whole garage doesnt fall and make me have a broken skull.

The Garage's opening is like 2-3 metres high. And my problem is I ALWAYS BOWL IT UP THERE!! ALWAYS! I am pretty tall for my age im only 13 im 170cm. A lot of people say my action is gay cause it probably is but im working on it. My problem is that i always look up when im bowling not looking at my target. I think thats the reason why im bowling it up over the roof.

So can anyone give me advice?

This situation really is a non starter. With a door only 2 metres high you have problems. You either need a HIGHER garage doorway...or really should be bowling in a more appropriate area.
Think about it...IF your wicket is against the garage back wall.and lets say the garage is 6-10 yards long..and IF you are bowling from a height of say 7 1/2-8 feet when the ball is released..from the regulation distance of 22 yards...then I reckon all of your deliveries would need to be short/very short of a length to pass under the doorway height, (as a fast/medium)..or even shorter if you are bowling as a spinner and looping the ball!!!
OUTCOME....you will develop a bad bowling technique which will have to be completely altered if/when the bowling coach is called in.

Nay lad...Get yer dad to get the builders in and heighten the garage entrance....OR....get down to your local cricket club and use their facilities.

As a lad..I used to play for hours in my nans back yard. Throwing a tennis ball against a wall and playing a batting stroke when it came onto the bat. I would play dead straight defensive shots...majestic cover drives...sublime hip glances...outrageous late cuts and I could leave a ball to within inches of my off stump. (Nan however forbade me to play the pull/hook shot in case the ball would go into the yard of Mrs Cooper).
The problem is now I can't play the pull/hook shot at all...and I can't play any of the other strokes unless the ball hits a wall after being bowled by the bowler!!!!!!!!!

hmm thx... Ill just move the stumps all the way forward then open the gate behind so i got a bigger run up.

So do you think the going over the roof is not surprising?

I have ammended my last post and added more info. Basically what I was attempting to do was to highlight that "garage bowling" and "backyard batting" result in the same outcome. Great fun at the time....but it don't do owt for your technique.:crying

Good cricket sense.Anyway i can't help.I just once bowled in my school team where i was not able to finish my over.i bowled 3 deliveries 4 no balls and 12 wides.

Move this thread to the cricket chat forum. But anyway, post some vids of you bowling. We would be able to see your action than we may be able to point out some flaws.
