Anyone here play an instrument?

I'm a massive muso. Play the piano and French horn to Grade 8 standard, and am nearing that on the Pipe Organ (hoping to do Grade 8 at the end of the year). I also sing in a few choirs (although I cannot sing on my own at all!), and conduct/compose music sometimes too.

I'm the opposite: I love singing on my own, but not so much in a group; harmonies are the weakest part of my singing. Are you a professional/aspiring professional musician?

I also must've forgot to mention, but I can play the Congo pretty well, and the Keyboard to some extent. In the keyboard, I don't know chords or any of that stuff but I can take out solo tunes on hearing.

Onthe Keyboard, I can only play AR Rahman's Airtel jingle and a Garba rythm.

I play guitar, piano, trumpet and saxophone and have taught music as a classroom specialist for the past year. ;)
Show off.:p

I've been trying to teach myself guitar recently (well, with the aid of instruction youtube videos). Safe to say it's not going well. Ah well, I'll keep trying.

I play guitar bass and keyboards and used to be Grade 7 on drums before I moved house.

That sounds cool Left Hander. I've never actually been in a band which is kinda disapponting, it's normally a phase where every teenager makes a band at least once. :D

It lasted for about a year and a bit and we were (there was 5 of us) all in a Music class at school, so practising wasn't a problem. We only played covers, we tried to write a song but it never happened because the bass player would always get his way (like one time, he wanted to play the guitar in a song, which he wrote, but that left us two guitarists playing bass, which I couldn't do because I'm left-handed). I eventaully left and there still going on, sort of. It's been a slow crawl for them. When I was mates with the bassist it was fun, after that it wasn't.

stick with the youtube videos, you'll get it eventually.

Me, I've played guitr badly for 2 years and have started learning drums about a month ago.

I have pretty much mastered Violet Hill and New Divide now, the two songs I have been learning recently. The bassline is tricky in Violet Hill but I've got it now and I've just been practising them both recently to get it to perfect.

I also learned how to play 45 seconds of the introduction to Chain-Link Chambers from Donkey Kong Country 2. Really love that song, in fact I love the whole DKC and DKC2 soundtracks - they are simply brilliant. For anybody who wants to hear classic video game music at its best - look no further than the DKC series. If you are a video game fan it's worth YouTubing it.. although try and get the original song, not the GameBoy version, as I think the GBA sound is poor compared to the original.
