April 2 - India v Sri Lanka - The Final!

Dhoni is making a big gamble here. If Sreesanth doesn't fire, critics will rip him apart, like the way they ripped apart Sourav when he decided to field after winning the toss on that fateful day in 2003. The final of the biggest cricketing tournament is not quite the place to perform experiments with the bowling order. Sreesanth's form in the first game doesn't inspire hope either.

I won't mind if Sreesanth goes for runs, provided he scalps Dilshan in his first over.

Dhoni's lucky charm says Sreesanth will have a game to remember for all the good reasons .

And kapugedera specifically named in the XI owing to SL playing India :lol

I thought Sanga called it. If not, why would Dhoni toss the coin? I heard Sanga's voice before Dhoni tossed. They shouldnt have gone for the re-toss

Anyways, still optimistic that the toss wont make much of difference

That's one wild crowd! With so much roaring and shouting, I feel as if I'm watching the match at the stadium. Playing in front of such a belligerent crowd is definitely not something which Sri Lanka will look forward to. :spy

Oh yeah why don't you bring in off form lunatic Sreesanth for a one off game, who cares if it's the World Cup Final, huh Dhoni ?

Sanga's the one who's made the strange changes.

Perera for Mathews is fair enough, mathews is injured. Kulasekara, ok, they want and extra seamer. Kapu for Silva, silva hasn't done much this tournament.

but why the flip has randiv all of a sudden jumped ahead of both herath and mendis? that's just weird, and sort of vindicates anyone saying he should have been taken in the first place. Still, think it's a mistake though, no idea what his form is, he's coming in cold and while people like to talk about decoding mendis I still think it's harsh dropping a bowler with an economy of around 3. especially after he was great versus new zealand.

Maybe SL want him to deny Sachin his 100th 100 by bowling a no-ball when Sachin's on 99 Not out . (Tongue smiley)

Ok , back to the discussion , this is Mendis vs Randiv against India :

Ajantha Mendis

Suraj Randiv

Clearly there's only one winner , so it quite seems a stupid decision in overlooking Mendis . That said , India have balanced it at all cost by trading Sree for Ashwin .

yeah, I was about to say, Randiv isn't even that good against india either. clearly though from the stats you can see mendis had gone from great to rubbish against them but I think that was also to do with form. don't think he quite knew how to adjust to becoming a full-time internation so quickly.

I think that's a minor victory for india, all that media about decoding mendis has paid off, he was in great form. if the pitch was gripping then he would have been an asset in the 2nd innings.

Two runs from the first over is not a bad start to the game. It's imperative that we keep the momentum going. Let's see what Sreesanth does here, as a lot hinges on his ten overs.

i have a feeling the pitch is going to be gripping like a mother in the 2nd innings and Murali will be hobbling about barely able to walk and Sri Lanka have picked someone who's been sitting about on his backside for the last 2 months that will be getting pumped around by the indian batsmen all day.:facepalm
