Asif and Akhtar Positive for doping!

News just coming in that both have had their bans overturned on appeal. Details are a bit sketchy atm so hopefully we'll get some more later.

The more cynical among us won't be overly surprised

Both insisted they did not knowingly take the drug, claiming it was present in supplements they had taken.
It's their responsibility to know, it's not a defence- but I guess any excuse will do. Disgraceful

You have got to be kidding me, that committee is a disgrace if you hand out a ban it should be stuck with not over turned.

Woooooooo their back not in a good way but at least we have some threat for World Cup and will they play against Windies?

This whole thing is a farce. You have two players with a big tournament coming up where being caught will see a 2 year ban. So you conveniently catch them in an out of competition test prior to the tournament, thereby avoiding the in tournament testing procedures. You provisionally ban them to please the authorities, and then overturn it when month or two have passed.

The Icc and indeed the World Doping Organisation will not be pleased with this. It sets a dangerous precedent if players can just get away with it because "They didn't know."

By the same token, Warne should never have missed a year of cricket, and just about everyone caught is innocent. Absolute farce.

that is disgusting! warne said he didnt know they were drugs, does that mean he can get off? what a joke. I have a feeling andrew nixon will have a field day.

In other sports it's the Athelete who is responsible for all substances entering their bodies. So saying you didn't know you took it or "it was in supplements" just doesn't cut it.

They have taken advantage of a HUGE loop-hole in the testing/banning system.

total disgrace

Warne-I didn't know what I took. Banned for 1 year.
Akhtar and Asif-I didn't know what I took. Let off.

Sub-Continental hypocrisy strikes again.

lol I hope the reinstate them after WC :D not that I support what they did Asif maybe because he probably doesnt know anything seeing as hes from a place with barley any electricity and other earthly matirials but Akhter boy o boy I can tell you hes a regular drug user just look at his face!

it is possibly the biggest disgrace to international cricket ever. Its just clearly favoritism, if they were useless fringe players there is no way in hell they would have had their bans over turned. Disgusting to even think of how dodgy the system is

This is great news for Pakistan cricket with their 2 strike bowlers back! SAF and WC here we come ! :D :D
