ASSOCIATE PREMIER LEAGUE
SEASON ONE

Congratulations to all of the teams who took part - from Amsterdam who dominated the entire season, to Nairobi who put a horror start behind them to win the competition outright.

The first award is the golden ball. Notable contenders were James Ngoche, whose 17 wickets at 19.7 started Nairobi's golden run, and Neil McGarrell, whose 15 wickets at just 13.9 went largely unnoticed as the rest of his Washington team couldn't offer him enough support. But of course, there could only ever be one winner - Dirk Nannes' 18 wickets with the new ball for Amsterdam Pirates came at under 18 apiece, and carried them through their domination of the league stages.

For Amsterdam against Kabul Kings

Next of all is the golden bat. Again, the contenders for this spot were numerous. Could it be Benny Howell, a leading light in an otherwise forgettable Kabul campaign. How about Eoin Morgan whose five half centuries took Glasgow to within touching distance of the semi finals? Of course, the man they all wanted to get out was Ashish Bagai. Puzzlingly overlooked for much of the competition, his elegant batting was soon on show in the latter stages of the competition when he finally became the first man to score a century in APL history.

After his ton in the semi against Dublin

There could only ever be one player of the season. He hit over 400 runs, took 15 wickets at a sparkling average of 23. He had a trio of fifties and a brace of three-wicket-hauls. He was the man who hit a six to win the inaugural Associate Premier League. The Player of the Season is Ryan ten Doeschate.

The six that consigned Amsterdam Pirates to second place.

News will be released soon about the second season of the Associate Premier League, which is set to take place in Kenya. Let us all hope that it shares the highs and lows, thrills and spills of this first exciting season of Premier League cricket.

Wonderful boy. Followed this league. Great management, well organized, full-on entertainment provision, great ratings and awesome activity. Everything was just superb and now this presentation. Looks simple yet nice and neat. :)

Info for next season:

Season Two of the Associate Premier League will take place in Kenya. The two grounds will be the Mombasa Sports Club ground and the Nairobi Gymkhana. I'm als thinking of changing the format a little bit, so as to keep the competition fresh and interesting and to keep the bottom two teams interested rather than them being out for 2/3 of the season.

Also, from now until the start of the season is going to be a transfer window. Stay tuned for more updates.

Yeh I won't be releasing many players either, except for Tom Heggelman and Harvir Baidwan will bring in some good spinners for them.

PLAYER NEWS: TIKOLO OUT OF RETIREMENT

Today has seen a big piece of news in the Associate Premier League. Probably the biggest headline is that Kenya's Steve Tikolo has made himself available for the second season of the Associate Premier League. "The tournament is coming to my backyard," he told reporters, "and I just want to be a part of something so big. I've seen the success that players like Brad Hogg and Matty Hayden have enjoyed in Australia, and I wonder if I could do similarly."

Tikolo thought he'd seen the end of his playing days for Kenya at the World Cup. Apparently not.

He has also not ruled out the possibility of a prolonged comeback, dependent of course on the success of his first competitive outing in cricket for almost a year.

i cannot understand you say that bottom 2 teams will be out:eek:

Completely wrong - read it again carefully - I say clearly that I am changing the Format so that the bottom two teams play more than the four games they played last edition.

can i get steve tiklo

Sorry, you kinda missed out on him :/

You might want to tweak your squad a bit to try to bring yourself up to scratch with the opposition.
