I still can't believe that you couldn't beat England in the full test series, anyway hopefully Australia can win the ODI series.

Wow what a win! Risky declartion but it payed off! hughesy was great in that series, good to see him get some runs as well as all the top order batsmen. Must of been some real flat pitches seems they all got a few tons and over 500 runs! Good stuff mate, kiu!

Ashes Test Series
1-1

vvvvvh.jpg

Absolutely incredible! Looked destined for a draw after they went so damn slow in the first innings, I went quick in my reply but was 160 runs down when I declared. I declared hoping my bowling could knock them over cheaply so I can go in for a big final innings run chase. Hauritz and Johnson destroyed them! All out for 170! Then Hughesy and Clarke smashed their ways to big scores as I made the target with less then 20 minutes to spare on the final day! What a 5th Test to finish a series in which I was lucky to save!

Not a bad series from Phil Hughes with 689 runs @ 76. With 3 big hundreds (including a double) and 2 fifties. Katich was also good with 529 runs and 2 hundreds. Ponting was superb with 3 hundreds and and 555 runs. Clarke got 597 runs with 2 hundreds. Hussey 2 hundreds and 553 runs. As you can see the batsman were in magical form, with the only batsman to fail being Marcus North - who I dropped for the 5th Test in exchange for Callum Ferguson who hit a handy 48 on debut.

From the bowlers, Johnson was my main striker getting 21 wickets with 7/89 in the first innings of the series. Hauritz was the man in the final Test after missing the 2nd, 3rd and 4th due to choosing 4 seamers. Stuey Clark played from the 2nd Test and grabbed 22 wickets @ 28. Siddle was average getting 16 wickets from 5 Tests as was Hilfenhaus with 12 wickets from the first four Tests. Brett Lee was overlooked for the whole series.

Player of the Series: Phil Hughes - 689 runs @ 76.65 3 Centuries, 2 Fifties

Hughes, in his first Ashes series, was unstoppable at the top of the order

One Day International Series - 7 matches

The One Day series follows from the Test matches as both teams try to establish dominance in the shorter version of the game. After a tough Test series, it's time to pull on the pyjamas and enjoy some sixes and wickets.

Ponting: Phillip Hughes' Inclusion a Given

Ricky Ponting has fronted the media ahead of this ODI series claiming new Test opener, Phil Hughes will be given the green light to show his stuff in the ODI arena.

"He is such a promising prospect and we are really hoping he does well with the bat up top of the order - something we've missed since the retirement of Gilly and Haydos"

Hughes has become a fan favourite, wowing crowds with his flashy batting.

Australia Take Series 4-3

Australia were just too good, with bat and ball

Australia has done enough to take home both the Urn and the ODI series, edging the series out 4-3. Although the series was over by the 6th game, with Australia up 4-2, the final match was a thriller with England victors by 4 runs. England will be disappointed in themselves, knowing this was the best chance in years that they've had to claim the series. Australia showed its dominance early, getting a 3-0 lead with England struggling for decent totals in their attempts. They backed it up with 2 victories but Australia dominates when it counts and they made no mistake this time round, claiming the series on the back of some very good individual performances.

Phillip Hughes was solid at the top of the order, with 3 half centuries. Katich repaid the faith shown in him by the selectors and did well with a top score of 124* in game four. But the good news for the Australians is the emergence of another good young middle order batsman - Callum Ferguson. Despite getting a duck in the game six, he creamed the attack in game seven with a magnificent maiden ODI hundred, scoring a chanceless 102. The bowlers were rotated very well by the coach as every one chimed in with wickets in every match to have England in some sticky situations early. Clark and Hilfenhaus were the standouts, bowling very tight whilst also getting early wickets.

Player of the Series: Simon Katich 463 runs @ 77.17

Katich was in superb form, getting Australia off to yet another good start

Yeah, he got a few wickets, kept it tidy. Rotated through with the rest of the bowlers, so didn't play the full seven matches.

Coming up... ODI series vs India.

Australia Fly Into India Confident

Australia come into this ODI series full of confidence after just completing a gruelling tour of England. Now they face, possibly, the hardest tour of all: India. The new look Australians flew over a squad capable of beating India, but India are in great touch after crushing the West Indies in an ODI series just prior to this one.

Captain Ricky Ponting is confident his players can cope with the pressure and has labelled Nathan Hauritz as the x-factor for the Australian team.
"Nathan has bowled very well this year, doing good in both Tests and ODIs and we are confident he can show what he has over here on the turning pitches. He has toured here before and did pretty well, so we know he can do it"

Hauritz gets advice from Coach Nielsen as he prepares for a tough series against the Indians

Some other inclusions to the squad which missed out in England include all-rounders Shane Watson and Cameron White who will both want to impress.

no marcus north, are you just doing the batting ranked on the Aus Rankings. anyway it should be a good series.

North Furious Over Exclusion From India Tour

Marcus-North-001.jpg

Confused: Marcus North has been left out iof the ODI team.

Western Australian batsman Marcus North is furious over being overlooked for the tour of India for the 7 match ODI series. North was a solid contributor during the Ashes Tour and after a decent series with the bat, coupled with the fact he is one of the most destructive batsman in the game, is surprised he wasn't included in the final squad.

"Yeah, I'm pretty gutted to be honest, I thought I played well in England and my form over the past few seasons back home in WA has been good. I was expecting a cap this series but it looks like I'm going back to WA again. Not happy".

Vice Captain Michael Clarke, who many had thought was looking like missing the series due to a niggling back injury had this to say on the North situation;

"He's a fantastic player, but to expect to be picked for such a challenging tour of India is quite unrealistic seeing as Fergie (Ferguson) has been in top form. I don't think there is any room in the middle order for him at the moment - guess he just has to go back to scoring runs for WA".

North who played in 4 Ashes Tests this year after not scoring a century when everyone around him were, has been left out in the cold again regarding selection but still hopes to be chosen for the 3 Test series against the West Indies later this year.

Oh and I'm not doing it by the player rankings, I just chose the best ODI batsman I think will win the series.
