Personally, I feel Travis Head is useless in the middle order. Keeping that in mind, I think he should be the reserve opener because he's been successful there. Short deserves a few games first. He needs to play the Warner role by attacking the bowlers in the first ten overs, which he is capable of. Finch takes his time but goes aggressive after that, he's valuable to the side. My lineup would be:

S Marsh
Stoinis
Paine
Maxwell
Carey
Agar
Tye
Richardson
Stanlake

This would be a good lineup. Maxi cannot be put anywhere over #6. I feel he can do well at 6 than any other position. If Short doesn't fire, bring Head in as opener. Shaun Marsh can be a stabilizer if a wicket falls. Given the lack of any good specialist batsmen, Stoinis should play at #4.

Isn't Carey a lower order batsman? Can't see Maxwell being slotted below him and there's no other big hitters who can occupy that spot but Carey himself. He can maybe bat #5 with Paine at 7. But wouldn't make much sense though.

My thoughts are Australia will struggle in the batting department not very impressive in the tour games so far they really haven't made a convising total yet but this series will be a nice one I like the looks of the bowlers young guns even tye will explode England 4-1

the problem is we lack fire power at the back end. Maxwell will make 1 good score out of 5 games, Paine also struggles to play the big shots. Batting looks very weak and vulnerable too. 2 games against county teams and can't score 300. This series is going to be a huge disappointment. Missing the likes of Bailey in the absence of our batting spearheads who can anchor and captain very well. No one in this line up is captain material. Only think I'm eager to see is this bowling line up, so we can pick out who can bowl with Starc Cummins and hazlewood. TBH the only people in this side I want to see in the CWC are Finch,Head,Stoinis, Agar,tye,stanlake and Jhye

Carey is a good keeper and a fearsome batsman. In odi cricket you need more of a good batsman who can also keep. Someone you can depend on to finish an innings strongly if necessary. Paine is not a batsman who can score 50 off of 25 or 30 balls when we need to get to 300+.In test cricket, most teams want a really good keeper with a bit of batting skill, where Paine is great. Wade's international career is done.

I disagree. If you want the best out of Maxwell, you want to give him the confidence. Langer has said he has been a beast in the nets, in their little practice game against themselves, He was "man of the match". Let him play the first and second game.
