Australia tour of South Africa, 2008/09

There goes Ferguson ........ so need of powerplay  Ponting has wasted 5 overs brilliantly :clap

Unless those 5 overs would produce 100 - 150 runs, it's was an all round poor effort.

Battle for world number one is heating up.

Solid knock by Ferguson showing his maturity. Still yet to see Dussey really fire up in the ODIs apart from his knock in the Windies.

Didn't expect Australia to be bowled for 131 runs. I suspect it's a bowling pitch, otherwhile there is no reason for such a low score.

It's a decent pitch, all the damage was done with swing and pace. The game started early and unusual even for a day game, the ball swung toward the rough side right through the innings. Then, as if to prove how rare it was, the Australian's new ball went dead straight.

Do they always do this in South Africa? If the one side are bowled out in less than 50 overs let the other side bat for a few to use up the time? Why not just have the interval between innings? =/

^Nothing they were 41/6 and ended up with 131, prey to South Africa's Brilliant bowling attack

Excellent cricket with the ball by South Africa:clap

Seems mister ponting didn't do his research before winning the toss. You always bat second in a day game at super sport park. The ball moves for the first 10 overs with 10:00 am starts but there after becomes a belter especially when batting second.

Hopefully smith can win the toss at newlands, I don't think ponting will forget newlands history.

Good chances by the selectors. Parnel for ntini was a good chance, ntini isn't an odi bowler anymore in my book. Too predictable after the first 10 overs. No variety and still no slower ball even after playing 10+ years of international cricket.

I also liked roelf for morne. Till Morkel gets his grove back its better to improve the batting and roelf is also a good death bowler for the titans.

stefan added 4 Minutes and 30 Seconds later...

It wasn't the pitch. It was the fact that with 10:00 am starts the ball swings for the first 10 overs at ss park. Parnell and Steyn beat the batsmen through the air. Nothing to do with the pitch.

Isn't too many changes we can make to our side, North would be handy to add more grit to the lineup but I can't see who he would come in for. Dussey will get another chance, looked good in the 1st match and this match the ball was crazy. So hopefully he can avoid those two in the 3rd match to show what he can do.

I think Johnson can play a Pollock sort of role at number 8. Both great-timers of the ball, but perhaps Johnson just needs to practice his big-hitting a bit. He doesn't have much footwork at the moment either so his slashes will get him into trouble during pressure times at the death. He'll need a fair break in order to do some work though.
