Pollock Snares Hayden - Australia 1/70 (9.0)

Shaun Pollock made the early breakthrough for South Africa but not before Australian openers Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden were able to make a mockery of the pitch, scoring 70 runs from 9 overs.

South Africa were limited to 218 at 4.36 an over while Australia have scored at a run rate of 7.77 an over.

Matthew Hayden continued his lean trot when he was caught behind attempting to drive through point on 21 and gain some momentum in the short form of the game, in which he has been experiencing a lean streak. Pollock caught the outside edge which flew comfortably through to Mark Boucher.

70 run partnership not bad and 7.77 RPO his done his job. gilly must be on like 50:P?

Gilly hitting form at the right time with the India series coming up! Looks like a whitewash is on the cards.

Gilly Slams 50 - Australia 1/74

Adam Gilchrist continued on his storming way as he smashed a quickfire 50 off only 32 balls to put Australia in a winning position at 1/74 from 9.1 overs.
Gilchrist, continuing on from his sensational 166 in the 2nd ODI, took to the bowling of Pollock, Nel and Ntini as he looks to complete his 2nd century in as many innings.

Australia Lose Ponting - Australia 2/136

South Africa made the second breakthrough of the innings as they dismissed Ricky Ponting for 36 as Australia continued to 2/136 in reply to South Africas 10/218 in the 3rd ODI.

Right Arm quick Andre Nel had Ponting LBW just as the Australian captain was looking to kick start his innings and make a large score to secure the series. South Africa know that they will have to capture vice Captain Adam Gilchrist if they are to have any chance of winning the final match of the series.

South Africa Claim The Key - Australia 3/138

South Africa backed up the wicket of Ricky Ponting by capturing they key in the Australian batting lineup and one of the best One Day batsmen in the world, Adam Gilchrist.

Gilchrist was able to add only 2 runs to the total before Nicky Boje tempted Gilchrist into the sweep shot that produced a top edge that flew comfortably to wicketkeeper Mark Boucher.

Gilchrist again astounded the Cape Town crowd with his lofty hitting that produced 74 runs from only 62 balls as he took Australia to the very strong position of 3/138 from only 22 overs.

Half Way Point - Australia 3/147 (25.0)

Australia continued to set a sensational pace as they reached the 25 over mark with the score at 3/147. Adam Gilchrist was the star of the innings in the first half of the match as he stormed to 74 from 62 balls.

Michael Clarke 7* (8) and Michael Hussey 3* (9), will now look to score the remaining 72 runs required for victory. The run rate required is a low 2.88 runs per over.

Boje Puts Breaks On Aussies - Australia 4/167

Nicky Boje left South Africa with some hope when he produced the wicket of Michael Clarke for 12 as Australia dropped to 4/167 chasing down South Africas 218 to win the 3rd ODI.

Boje tossed the ball up to give it a little more flight which forced Clarke to top edge a sweep shot that gently popped up to Shaun Pollock at square leg. It left South Africa with a glimmer of hope with a weaker lower batting order of James Hopes, Shane Watson and Brett Lee to come after Simon Katich and Michael Hussey.

Boje Picks Up 2 In 1 Over - Australia 5/167

Nicky Boje put further hope in the hearts of the home crowd as he knabbed Simon Katich without scoring as Australia slipped to 5/167. Katich continued on his lean summer with a 4th ball duck when he was adjudged LBW and all replays indicate that the left hander was plum in front.
